ATC ANNOUNCES ITS NEW SCM19 HI-FI PASSIVE MONITOR LOUDSPEAKERS FOR STEREO AND MULTI-CHANNEL APPLICATIONS

Las Vegas, NV (November 19, 2013) – Lone Mountain Audio, the U.S. distributor for ATC, Acoustic Transducer Company Consumer Hi-Fi products announces ATC’s new Hi-Fi Passive SCM19 V2 Loudspeakers designed for medium size stereo and multi-channel applications.

The new Hi-Fi Passive closed-box SCM19 employs ATC’s new SH25-76, 25mm soft dome tweeter, updated bass/mid drivers and crossovers housed in a new curved laminated cabinet. The second generation SCM19 employs ATC’s landmark SH25-76 tweeter, developed to satisfy the company’s long-established rigor in drive unit engineering.

Sharing technology with the renowned ATC soft domed mid-range drive unit, the new tweeter employs a unique dual suspension system suppressing rocking modes even at high power output levels. The configuration of a short edge-wound voice coil in a long, narrow magnetic gap ensures exceptionally low distortion throughout its operating band and removes the need for Ferro-fluids, which can dry out over time, compromising performance.

A complex, shaped, soft-domed diaphragm extends high frequency range and offers a smooth off-axis response. The tweeter’s 15,000 gauss (1.5 tesla) neodymium magnet has a black heat-treated top plate, which dissipates heat away from the voice coil to maintain high power handling and low power compression. A precision-machined 5.5mm rigid alloy waveguide provides optimum dispersion, a flat on-axis frequency response and resonance-free operation.

New Cabinets and Systems
Establishing what is to be a new style for ATC’s most competitively priced range of loudspeakers, and joining their new SCM7 V3 and SCM11 V2 recently announced, the new SCM19 benefit acoustically and aesthetically from a curved cabinet construction. The new cabinet design is braced and laminated for high rigidity and damping, the curved enclosures in real cherry or black ash veneer also impart a strong impression of handcrafted design quality. The systems improved crossovers feature metallized polypropylene capacitors, large air cored inductors and ceramic wire-round resistors offer superior power handling and clarity. The new model exhibits an impedance curve free from low values, presenting an easy load for amplifiers of 75 to 300 watts.

The SCM19 is designed for optimum performance with the grill in place – although the difference in performance without the grill is minimal. The metal grille, finished in anthracite grey, fixes to the cabinet via hidden magnets. According to tradition, each model number represents internal cabinet volume in liters.

The new ATC SH25-76 soft dome tweeter is joined with the company’s highly linear 150mm mid/bass driver. It features an integrated 75mm soft dome – exceptional for its horizontal dispersion of mid-band frequencies – and a huge 9kg high-energy, ‘Super Linear’ magnet systems, which includes a 75mm diameter flat wire, under hung voice coil, meticulously milled and formed by ATC. The magnet system and a carefully weighted doped fabric cone assembly contribute to the SCM19’s wide bandwidth, impressive dynamic range and convincing bass output coupled with very low distortion as a result of the unique ‘Super Linear’ motor system.

The new range of ATC closed-box passive loudspeakers is certain to raise the bar in performance driven bookshelf loudspeakers. Manufactured in-house, the new SCM19 offer the ownership of a hand-built ruggedly engineered speaker, world famous for musical accuracy and high power output, and are backed by ATC’s six-year warranty.

Linear Hosts Z-Wave Alliance Unplug Fest & Developers Forum

Developers and OEM manufacturers gathered at Linear’s Carlsbad headquarters for a first look at the new Z-Wave Next Gen 500 series chip platform, and to attend training sessions geared at helping them get products to market faster and more efficiently.

Carlsbad, CA – November 15, 2013 – Linear LLC, a leader in residential and commercial access control, security and health and wellness solutions, recently hosted the Z-Wave Alliance Unplug Fest & Developer’s Forum session at their Carlsbad, CA headquarters on November 12-14, 2013. The Developer’s Forum & Unplug Fest is a three-day technical event with trainings, networking and a first look at the new Z-Wave Next Gen 500 series. Linear is a Principal Member of the Z-Wave Alliance, a consortium of global companies that oversees the world’s largest interoperable ecosystem for wireless home control products and services.

The next-generation Z-Wave product portfolio from Sigma Designs provides important new advantages for OEMs, developers, service providers and end users. At the same time, the design consumes even less power than the previous generation chips, providing for industry leading battery life in products that make use of these features. In addition to the performance gains afforded by the new Series 500 SoC and module hardware, the Sigma Designs Next-Gen platform also includes both a new Z/IP feature and the ZIPR Gateway. The former is a software engine that transforms IP protocol commands into Z-Wave commands and vice versa. The latter is a reference design for a very inexpensive gateway that can present any Z-Wave device as an IP device, with an IP address and all IP services. Sales Of Unified Communications Products Grew 94% In 2013, Stampede Reports

With more than a month still left to go in the current sales year, Stampede Presentation Products, Inc. today announced that sales of its Unified Communications products grew by 94% in 2013 — a record-shattering rate of growth that will only continue to explode in 2014 and 2015. Indeed, according to Stampede President & COO Kevin Kelly, Stampede is committing itself to building an entire 21st century mix of products that are built around the concept of ‘The Internet of Things.’

“In order to remain the industry’s largest supplier of high value added ProAV solutions, we must take the steps required to build out our future product lines in ways that meet the needs of an increasingly Internet based, web centric ProAV customer,” Kelly emphasized today. “We have created a specialist team that is focused on meeting this goal. And we’ve formed a Tech Support team with AV, PC, Network and VC expertise to support the sales efforts of the specialist team. I believe this is a first for our industry.”

Currently, according to Kelly, Stampede is offering a first generation of ‘Internet of Things’ product portfolio centered around audio solutions from Phoenix Audio and Clear One; visual solutions from Sony, MediaPointe, and Vaddio; and software from Vidyo, Bluejeans, and ChorusCall. “In highly customized and integrated offerings these audio, visual, and software solutions are delivering high value added Unified Communications capabilities to a growing number of end user customers,” Kelly explained. “But it is just the beginning of where we as an industry are headed.”

Kelly emphasized that the ProAV industry is being challenged daily to stop using the terms ‘audio and video’ and start using the terms ‘see, hear and control’ in order to understand the business opportunities that this shift to ‘The Internet of Things’ era is creating. “The traditional AV industry is maturing and a new personalized industry is rising up to take its place, one that is built upon the ideas of connecting, integrating, and sharing devices in entirely new eco-systems built around highly customized software applications.”

Beginning in 2014, Stampede will be adding greater emphasis to a host of product categories, including video surveillance and security; IP video, cameras, and control; wireless audio; wearable devices; power line devices, and, of course, tablets and tablet accessories.

“Make no mistake about it. These categories are already established and they are only going to become huge in the years to come,” Kelly asserted. “Lest anyone doubt this, consider this fact: in 2013 Stampede sold 20,000 pairs of smart video glasses! If any one thing points the way to the future it is this remarkable sales achievement.”
