Middle Atlantic Teams With Control Concepts for Communication Flexibility in RackLink™

Fairfield, NJ –– When Middle Atlantic Products set out to develop its new RackLink™ Suite of Power Management products, a crucial goal was to ensure its communication flexibility across multiple platforms including the web, mobile devices and control systems. To develop that critical open-architecture communication with control systems, the company partnered with fellow market leader Control Concepts, Inc.

Working in close collaboration with Middle Atlantic, audiovisual control system solutions company Control Concepts created communication drivers for both Crestron and AMX that work with the new protocol. The protocol also provides matrix readings from the systems for energy management, imports RackLink data into a database that compares usage and points out cost saving opportunities and allows control systems to register for unsolicited information. These features provide AV professionals with the data they need to make real-time changes to the control system that save energy and cost, and improve functionality.

Recently introduced and already enjoying acceptance among AV professionals, RackLink products provide installers with flexible, intelligent power monitoring and management for AV systems, along with preemptive support functions. They are the first of their kind capable of maintaining AV system reliability using automatic actions that include automatic reboot, turning on emergency fans and shutting down equipment for safety in overload or over-temperature conditions.

Asked about the collaboration between the companies, Jeff Mackie, Director of Product Development at Control Concepts, said that when working with Middle Atlantic on RackLink, he “really felt like part of the team.”

“The expertise that Control Concepts brought to the development of RackLink’s control system communication protocol was invaluable,” said Middle Atlantic Electrical/Electronic Product Manager Murray Williams. “Their knowledge of these environments helped optimize its functionality for how integrators utilize it in the field.”

Stampede Announces Plans To Bring Its 2012 Big Book Of AV Tour To 13 Cities In The U.S. And Canada

AMHERST, NEW YORK, December 5, 2011 — Seeking to make its 2012 Big Book of AV Tour (BBOAV) even bigger and more successful than its just completed 2011 tour, Stampede, the leading value-added distributor of professional audio video solutions, today announced plans to bring its phenomenally popular Big Book of AV Tour to 13 cities in the United States and Canada in 2012. What’s more, Stampede said it will double the length of each day’s exhibit hours and increase the number of on-site training programs.

“Our 2011 Big Book of AV Tour was the biggest, most successful tour in the three year history of the program,” Stampede President & COO Kevin Kelly said today. “Frankly, given the fact that we hit nine cities and educated several thousand attendees during the 2011 tour, it’s going to be a challenge to make the 2012 tour even bigger and better — but we have the programs underway that will do just that.”

According to Kelly, increasing the number of cities visited, doubling the length of each day’s exhibit hours, increasing the number and variety of on-site training programs, opening up the tour to more end users, and making affordable video conferencing a centerpiece of every tour stop will help strengthen the BBOAV Tour as the largest event of its kind in North America.

“We’re thrilled that the Big Book of AV Tour continues to grow and reach more dealers each year,” Kelly said. “This tour provides dealers across the country a chance to experience the latest AV technologies and equipment and learn not only how to use them, but also which ones to use for each unique job. When coupled with our Stampede University live training events on topics such as 3D technology, touch technology and digital signage, The Big Book of AV Tour is a dealer’s one-stop event for staying up-to-date on everything AV.”

The Big Book of AV Tour supports and extends the reach of the company’s The Big Book of AV, The Ultimate Audio/Video Resource Book. The 2011 tour offered a chance for dealers to see live projector and display demonstrations and take part in Stampede University live training events on topics such as 3D technology, touch technology and digital signage. In addition, dealers in attendance had the opportunity to become CTS and DSCE certified.

Published each year by Stampede, The Big Book of AV contains more than 800 pages and features thousands of products that are ideal for home theaters, schools, houses of worship and just about any venue. The book offers buyer tips for selecting the right AV equipment and recommends products to enhance the performance of displays and projectors. The book also includes a Manufacturer Resource Section with contact info for every featured brand and a glossary of commonly used AV industry terms to help dealers understand the latest technology language. The Big Book of AV is also available for free online at www.bigbookofav.com and is now compatible with iPhones, iPads and Android mobile devices.

Attendees of the 2011 tour saw the latest solutions from a variety of vendors including Atlas Sound, Avteq, BenQ, Casio, Chief, Epson, Gefen, Hall Research, Hitachi Solutions, Kramer, Lumens, Mitsubishi, Mustang, NEC, Optoma, Peerless, Perfect Path, ProSales, TechGlobal, Samsung, Severtson Screens, Sharp and Sony.

Middle Atlantic Racks Do Double Duty For Savant Systems

At the heart of Savant Systems’ Experience Center and the Training Center in its company headquarters are a complement of Middle Atlantic racks that transcend their traditional roles as equipment storage areas. In each facility, they are a platform providing invaluable support for customer sales, service and dealer training.

Middle Atlantic MRK Series Rack at Savant Experience Center

Savant’s sophisticated 8,000 square foot Experience Center in New York’s SoHo District features fully automated residential and commercial spaces designed to show prospective clients how the company’s control, automation, energy management and entertainment systems can be artfully and seamlessly integrated into real-world home and commercial market settings.

A team of leading designers was commissioned by Savant to create the Residential Experience’s Center’s fully automated bedroom and bath, music/piano area, media room, kitchen and home theater spaces.

Located in the media room near the home theater, a large 44-space Middle Atlantic MRK Series rack is prominently on view for prospective clients and architects, consultants, builders and media touring the facility.

In addition to showcasing the sheer breadth of equipment required for this type of facility in a handsome and rugged format, it and the six other Middle Atlantic racks in the Center provide a real “inside” view of what goes on behind the scenes of an installation. Each rack emphasizes the organization implicit in the company’s approach to equipment infrastructure, a significant “wow” factor for clients according to Savant officials.

Seven Middle Atlantic racks accomplish the same dual function in Savant’s equally functional and stylish 5,000 square foot Commercial Experience Center that features a Hotel Room Suite, Telepresence/Teleconference room, Sports Bar, Distance Learning Classroom, Corporate Boardroom, and multiple Digital Signage Stations.

Middle Atlantic also plays a critical role at Savant’s main training facility located at the company’s Headquarters in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Equipped with five SRSR Series Slide Out and Rotating racks and four MRK Series racks, it is the site for weekly classes held for Savant’s integrators.

The intensive training introduces Savant’s products and methodologies in a classroom setting outfitted with Savant automation and other equipment, all fitted neatly into Middle Atlantic racks valued for their accessibility, ease of servicing and build quality.

The rest of the building includes 13 demo configuration stations that enable integrators to get hands on experience with Savant’s products and those of other manufacturers in a simulated installation.

According to Savant Director of Business Development, Bob Ross, “Effectively providing integrators with the experience they need in the short time they are here is all about efficiency. Middle Atlantic racks are a key asset in our training regimen that allows integrators quick access to the I/O connections of the products they are working with.

“After years of rigorous daily use in our training facility,” Ross continues, “Middle Atlantic Products have superseded our expectations for build quality and durability—they have held up remarkably well. So well in fact, Savant has continued to commission them around the country for our newest regional training locations.

“When it came time to select an equipment racking solution that would be prominently displayed in Savant’s NYC Experience Center and MA-based Training Headquarters, Middle Atlantic received every nomination. Savant has complete confidence working with such a universally respected organization.”

IOGEAR Advances HD and 3D Wireless Streaming with new Digital A/V Kit

The latest A/V streaming kit wirelessly transmits 1080p HD / 3D video content and 5.1 digital audio up to 100 feet, through standard walls.

Foothill Ranch, Calif. – November 9, 2011 – IOGEAR, a leader in convergence through connectivity products, announces the Wireless 3D Digital Kit (GW3DHDKIT), which reduces cable clutter and provides flexible and reliable 1080p HD and 3D wireless streaming for up to two rooms. Relying on the 5GHz wireless spectrum, the Wireless 3D Digital Kit does not require a line-of-sight placement, and delivers uncompressed full 1080p, 3D content and 5.1 digital audio up to 100 feet (figure assumes ideal wireless conditions).

The IOGEAR Wireless 3D Digital Kit consists of a transmitter and receiver with connections that allow it to stream standard, HD or 3D resolution content from up to two HDMI® enabled devices. Included with the kit are an IR blast cable, a remote control, and two power adapters. To add a second room, one HDTV can connect directly to the transmitter’s loop-through (local) port, while a second HDTV simultaneously receives content via the wireless receiver. A “Floating HDTV” can be set up by connecting two HD or 3D media sources to the wireless transmitter while a wall-mounted TV receives content from the connected wireless receiver.

The Wireless 3D Digital Kit is housed in a sleek black casing with rounded edges, giving it a modern but understated appearance. The unobtrusive transmitter, receiver, IR blast cable and remote control underscore just what a powerful device the Wireless 3D Digital Kit really is. Streaming high-bandwidth 3D and 1080p content up to 100 feet is made possible by the use of 5GHz technology, which is generally less susceptible to network interference and can carry more data than its 2.4 GHz relative.

By supporting devices such as 3D Blu-ray and DVD players, DVR/set-top boxes and game consoles, the Wireless 3D Digital Kit allows users to keep their components neatly out-of-sight and keep the focus on their celebrated HD or 3D TVs. Perfect as a DIY retrofit solution, the built-in Infrared (IR) pass-though allows user control over source devices that are hidden away in a different location. Additionally, the GW3DHDKIT is HDCP 2.0 Compliant and requires no software or driver installation.

“Our Wireless 3D Digital Kit advances the technology of streaming A/V content and is a perfect fit for those who already have a 3D display or are planning to get one,” said Bill Nguyen, Senior Marketing Manager for IOGEAR. “The GW3DHDKIT offers an easy, affordable way to stream both HD and 3D entertainment discretely with multiple retrofit and installation options.”

For its initial launch, the Wireless 3D Digital Kit will be available online at Costco.com. A nationwide roll-out that includes shopIOGEAR.com, brick and mortar retailers and online resellers will happen in later in Q4 2011. MSRP of the Wireless 3D Digital Kit is $379.95.

Acoustics First reveals the PhaseFOAM™ Acoustical System

Acoustics First PhaseFOAM™ for critical listening environments

Acoustics First PhaseFOAM™ for critical listening environments

If you want a kit to tell you how to design the acoustics in your space, DON’T CLICK THIS LINK: www.PhaseFOAM.com

The principals of Acoustics First® have been in the acoustics arena since the seventies when they introduced industrial foam as an acoustic solution for recording studios. Back then, there were neither acoustics companies nor any off the shelf acoustic materials. Everything had to be built by hand. Since then, many choices have appeared – Pre-manufactured acoustical panels, thermoformed diffusers, and many single solution room kits. While kits are convenient and give reasonable results, they can’t possibly be an exact match for your room. Just as no two snowflakes are alike; no two rooms sonically the identical. When it comes to room acoustics, there is no ‘one size fits all’. All rooms are different, so we have created the PhaseFOAM™ acoustical system to allow you, the designer, to tune your room the way you want it to sound.

Acoustics First® introduces the first acoustical system that does not require you to have specific room dimensions. This acoustical system is based on two seemingly simple, but versatile, boxes of acoustical foam. You can use these basic building blocks to create an acoustical environment to suit your needs. PhaseFOAM™ Box A contains absorptive acoustical foam tiles and PhaseFOAM™ Box B contains modular bass traps.

If you have the knowledge, ability and confidence to design your own sound, CLICK THIS LINK: www.PhaseFOAM.com

We trust you to be the best judge of your acoustics!
