Custom EQ Inside the Amplifier with Pro Audio Technology Programmable Modular Amplifiers (PMA)

An intuitive user interface with new predefined and parametric filters simplifies complex system calibration with the PMAs.

Huntington Beach, CA – September 25, 2012 – Pro Audio Technology (PRO), leader in professional-grade loudspeaker and digital amplifier technology, today announced enhancements to its Programmable Modular Amplifier (PMA) multichannel amplifier/processors. A complete family of new DSP filters for system acoustic optimization is now available via the PMA Control Panel™ interface – an enhancement to PRO’s PMA Manager™ amplifier control software.

Using PMA Manager Software, an installer can configure PMA amp/processors for all PRO loudspeaker systems via a single mouse-click by simply selecting the loudspeaker model from a list. The user is then able to optimize performance of the system in-situ via easy-to-use drop down menus of predefined filter selections identified using plain English – no knowledge of engineering terminology or advanced acoustical principles is required. These features greatly simplify the system setup process and reduce system calibration time.

Up to four predefined acoustic filters are available, per channel.

Examples of the predefined filters include:

• Perforated projection screen high-frequency compensation, selectable by screen brand and model
• Acoustic fabric high frequency compensation
• Acoustic boundary loading compensation
• Bass response contouring to fine-tune boundary compensation
• Treble response contouring to fine tune screen and fabric compensation
• High and low pass filters for deployment of distributed audio subwoofer/satellite systems

In lieu of the predefined filters, advanced installers can make use of up to eight customizable parametric filters – per channel – plus delay and gain adjustments to fine tune low-frequency in-room audio performance. Designed for subwoofer optimization, all the tools required to tame room-related standing wave modes are available right in the amplifier and are implemented via PMA Manager Software.

In addition to the full-set of customizable and predefined filters, PMA Manager features a built-in pink noise signal to aid in diagnosis of system wiring and design issues, and provides signal routing within the PMA amplifier making the deployment of complex, multi-way, multi-speaker installations simple and efficient.

“Installers don’t want to deploy stand-alone, multi-channel audio processors that add noise and use hard-to-understand terminology to get the best performance from their client’s systems,” said Paul Hales, Pro Audio Technology founder. “They are expensive, and needlessly complicate system wiring schemes. Our PMA amplifier/processors allow full optimization of audio systems right inside the amplifiers themselves. And best of all, PMA Manager™ with PMA Control Panel™, makes the process point-and-click easy.”

Pro Audio Technology’s Programmable Modular Amplifier is a 2U, four-channel design employing installer-programmable DSP with system calibration capabilities. PMA amplifier/processors are available in multiple configurations of 200, 450, or 1000 watts per channel. With high resolution DSP filtering, and proprietary PMA Manager Software, PMA amplifier/processors provide an intelligent, easy way to carry out complicated calibrations with minimal added cost and effort.

HydraConnect LLC Debuts New HDMI Matrix Processors With Built-in HDBaseT HDMI Transmitters – Also Now Available for Crestron, iRule, and RTI in addition to Control4

DENVER (8/23/12) — HydraConnect LLC, a Denver-based manufacturer of HDMI matrix processors has introduced its new HSS-3 Matrix Processor for Control4 systems. They have also announced system drivers that will also enable HSS-2 and HSS-3 products to integrate with Crestron, iRule, and RTI home automation systems.

HydraConnect LLC’s new HSS-3 Matrix Processor provides 8 HDMI inputs and 8 outputs with built-in HDBaseT transmitters, enabling cost effective installation to connect video displays up to 330 feet away using CAT5e cables. The companion HDBaseT receivers are unique in that they do not require power supplies, reducing installation headaches. Alternatively up to two of the HDBaseT outputs can be used as local HDMI connections. The HSS-3 retains all of the HSS-2 features such as an integrated audio matrix and CEC control to replace IR flashers.

In addition the HSS-2 and HSS-3 now include HydraConnect LLC’s new Dynamic 2D/3D protocol to automatically resolve EDID conflicts with mixed 2D/3D sources and displays.

“We are excited to now offer our Control4 dealers an integrated HDMI video, audio, and control processor with built-in HDBaseT transmitters to simplify their custom installations. Additionally, we are now able to make our products available to Crestron, iRule, and RTI home automation system installers,” said HydraConnect CEO, David Schanin. “We’ve learned a lot by keeping our efforts focused on Control4 systems over the past few years, but all the HDMI integration and CEC automation tools we have developed are equally applicable to these other systems. Installers will greatly appreciate the simplicity, and set-up automation of our systems, and the ability to all-but eliminate IR flashers.”

The HSS-3 will connect and individually switch up to eight HDMI sources with eight HDMI video displays, switch eight stereo sources among 16 remote speaker zones, and control this equipment using CEC without IR flashers, all seamlessly integrated with a home automation system. The HydraConnect HSS-3 and the earlier HSS-2 models use cloud-based software support that provides automatic upgrades and tech support without customer intervention. The most recent upgrade was the addition of the company’s patent-pending Dynamic 2D/3D display management system, which automatically maximizes viewing options and performance in environments with mixed 2D and 3D components. With the exception of HydraConnect LLC’s HSS family of products, present day switches do not have the capability to dynamically adapt to the 2D/3D environment properly.

“It’s all about systems integration and ease of installation,” continued Schanin. “Customers don’t realize that a major system upgrade, like Dynamic 2D/3D, happened two weeks ago at 3 AM without discs, dongles or a visit from their dealer. Our cloud based update system did this automatically. With the HSS-3 we are adding the greater range and flexibility of built-in HDBaseT extender technology to the HSS-2’s patented CEC control functions and largely automated setup. The HSS processors provide the installer with a simple HDMI and HDBaseT technology solution.”

Since long runs of conventional HDMI cables are not possible, many custom installers use accessory HDBaseT HDMI extenders and CAT5e for long cable runs. By building eight HDBaseT transmitters into the HSS-3, installers can speed installation and set-up by eliminating one more connection in the chain. These extenders use Power Over Ethernet (POE), so there is no need for a “wall wart” power supply on the receiver end of the cable, which allows flush mount of flat screen TVs. To support local AV Receivers in the HSS rack, two of the output channels can be selected to use local HDMI connectors instead of HDBaseT.

The HydraConnect LLC HSS-3 also eliminates the need most IR blasters and extra controllers, thanks to its fully-integrated CEC control for nearly all sources and displays, plus it provides integrated IP support for DirecTV satellite receivers. Automatic EDID set-up and management ensures maximum video resolution and all audio format support. There are no HDCP key limitations on number of simultaneous displays. The company’s FlashConnect™ technology ensures near instantaneous video switching and no picture loss when adding or removing displays to or from a video stream. The HSS-3 supports 3D, resolutions up to 1080p, HDMI 1.4a-pass-through, 36/30/24 bit deep color (225 GHz), automated EDID and CEC processing, and is HDCP 1.4 compliant. It also supports all the latest HDMI audio formats including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. A/V remix allows the viewing of one video source while listening to a separate audio source. For Control4 installations, HSS-3’s fully integrated Control4 Composer support includes bidirectional volume control feedback for Control4 Navigator.

The HSS-3 will be available to authorized HydraConnect dealers in October. The new HydraConnect System Drivers for Crestron, RTI, and iRule will be available to dealers in October.

Main Event Entertainment™ Creates a Visual and Digital Entertainment Experience With Casio’s Signature XJ-M250 Projectors

MAIN EVENT ENTERTAINMENT™ CREATES A VISUAL AND DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT EXPERIENCE WITH CASIO’S SIGNATURE XJ-M250 PROJECTORS

DOVER, NJ, (AUGUST 22, 2012) - Main Event Entertainment™, a leading family entertainment center based in Plano, Texas wanted to visually enhance and transform their customers’ overall bowling experience.  To do so, the Center sought out SAVE Electronics –  a leading solutions provider of presentation, entertainment and communications systems components and support for business and home systems to help find a less expensive and low maintenance projector for wall-to-wall entertainment. With the help of SAVE Electronics located in Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex, SAVE Electronics installed 40 of Casio’s Signature XJ-M250
projectors across three different Main Event locations.

SAVE Electronics suggested Casio’s Signature XJ-M250 projectors because they are lamp-free and run on Casio’s state-of-the-art LASER & LED Hybrid Light Source. This means users do not have to replace lamps every 2-3 months, which typically costs almost as much as the original projector cost over one year. With the projectors having an estimated lifespan of 20,000 hours, Main Event can now provide on-going visual footage, since the projectors typically run 14-16 hours a day.

“I have been in this business for more than 30 years and found Casio’s Signature XJ-M250 projector to be incomparable,” said Tim Boyd, president of SAVE Electronics. “The fact that it can withstand such a high amount of daily use is a major benefit. Additionally, the XJ-M250 is one of the brightest Lamp Free Laser & LED projectors on the market and the zoom feature works great, while still allowing the brightness of the image to stay intact.”

With Casio’s XJ-M250, Main Event can shut down the projectors every day without worrying about additional setup time. When the power is turned back on, the projectors retain memory of the zoom settings and cut down on calibration time. Even if the Center were to lose power during a thunderstorm, this easy to use system will not lose the data needed to keep the visual effects running when power is restored.  Since the projectors use Laser & LED’s it only takes eight seconds from Power on to reach full brightness. And instant OFF capability means no cool down time.

“The total cost of ownership and ability to withstand daily use were the two major components in choosing a projector,” said Pete Del Monte, Director of Technical Services of Main Event Entertainment. “Casio’s Signature XJ-M250 meets our needs beyond our expectations and has made a significant technological difference in our bowling alleys by cutting down costs and maintenance, and brightening the atmosphere. This projector has transformed Main Event Bowling Centers into an amazing digital experience for consumers.”

Casio’s Signature XJ-M250 projectors are set up at the end of all bowling lanes, right above the pins, from floor to ceiling. The units can project advertisements, live video of sporting events, music videos and more. Controlled by Crestron, the projectors have an additional switcher that allows managers to choose from six different DirectTV networks.

Main Event set up 11 projectors in their first location, which became the first full digital building in the United States. After testing Casio’s projectors in this location, Main Event Bowling Center decided to implement the projectors in two other locations as well. They went on to set up 12 projectors in a second location and 17 in a third. Currently, Main Event Bowling Center is building a new location in Katy, Texas, which will include 14 Casio projectors.

“Casio is proud to be Main Event’s premier projector provider,” said Matt Mustachio, general manager of Casio’s Business Projector Division. “We know our Lamp Free projectors will reduce operating costs over the life of the installation and create a space that is both inviting and dynamic. We look forward to our continued relationship with Main Event Entertainment.”

Former Genzyme CEO Finds ELAN g! Is The Perfect Prescription For Easy-To-Use Home Control

Home entertainment and control must be easy to be useful, and perhaps no one knows this better than former Genzyme CEO Henri Termeer. When he hired Groom Construction of Salem, Mass. to build an addition to his Marblehead, Mass. home, he also contacted Connected Systems Group to make every piece of technology easy to operate — including more than 200 motorized window shades throughout the home. Having some experience with a more complicated and sometimes frustrating Crestron system, he knew that there had to be a better way.

“Everything I want from a home entertainment and control system has been perfected in the new ELAN® g! system,” said Termeer. “The touch screens, the interface, the speed, and even the iPhone app are so good that I just sat down and started using the new system without having to consult a manual or ask any questions. It was painless, and it took me 10 minutes to learn the whole system from top to bottom.

“As the former CEO of one of the world’s leading biotech companies, I know that every investment has to be evaluated in terms of the return it will generate,” he continued. “The ELAN g! system was absolutely the right investment for me when it came to upgrading my home and giving me simple control of everything from lighting to security.”

One of the reasons Termeer needed an easy-to-use system was the fact that the home addition includes a new indoor swimming pool built inside an all-glass conservatory with more than 100 windows — each with its own motorized shade. With such a massive shade array simple operation is a necessity. The custom integrators at Connected Systems Group programmed the shades in groups so letting in a little or a lot of sunlight is as easy as pushing a button. Using a combination of Lutron shades and an English brand so that they could completely cover every inch of glass, allowing the entire conservatory to go from night to day with a single button.

According to Philip See, President of Connected Systems Group, “One of Mr. Termeer’s Maine properties has a Crestron system that he’s had a lot of issues with over the years, which is why we decided the ELAN g! system was the best choice for his new home addition in Marblehead. Now that he’s had time with the g! system, he’s eager for us to go to Maine to replace his Crestron system with ELAN g!, as well as put a g! system in a condo in Boston.”

This Elan g! system integrates more than 200 motorized window shades, 16 motorized windows, 90 Pulseworx lighting loads, pool fans and Pentair pool and spa equipment, eight thermostats in the new addition, 10 surveillance cameras with DVR, a Hunter irrigation system and controls the property’s two entrance gates, each with a camera. When someone approaches the gates, the g! system automatically turns on the gate camera and displays the video feed on the touch screens in the kitchen and swimming pool room.

As for the home’s media, the system gives Termeer fast, simple control over 13 zones of audio, 11 TVs and a home theater that features a 110” motorized screen, a SIM2 projector on a motorized lift and a 7.2 surround sound system. The theater produces professional quality sound, partly thanks to the acoustical backing applied on the custom-built ceiling.

Termeer controls his g! system from four iPads with the g!Mobile app, a 10-inch ELAN touch screen in the kitchen and a 7-inch ELAN touch screen in the swimming pool room.

The ELAN g! Entertainment and Control System provides users with the most uniform and intuitive icon-based control from their favorite devices including TVs, touchscreens, touchpads, PCs, iPhones and iPads. The standardized interface works across platforms, so that the trendy g!Mobile app users love on the iPhone appears and works similarly on ELAN touchscreens, valets and handheld remotes as well as users’ televisions and mobile devices. And the system’s IP backbone makes it just as easy to control the system from across the room – or across the globe.

Individual “apps” for each subsystem allow the user to control security, climate, lighting, media, irrigation, pool/spa, messaging, video and photos with the flick of a finger. Access is fast and secure through any ELAN home interface or globally with mobile Internet enabled devices like the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Netbooks and PC Tablets. Since the intuitive interface empowers users with personalized scheduling and detailed history views, high consumption subsystems like lighting and climate can be closely monitored and managed for a greener lifestyle – and substantial energy savings.

Pro Audio Technology Quad-Amplified, Seven Foot Tall SCR-3215sm Loudspeaker

Pro Audio Technology LoudspeakersWith dual 15-inch, 1400W woofers and a maximum output of >130dB; what started as an exercise to push loudspeaker performance limits is now a reality for audio and home theater enthusiasts.

Huntington Beach, CA – July 24, 2012 – Pro Audio Technology (PRO), the leader in loudspeakers and DSP-programmable amplifier systems for residential properties, today announced the SCR-3215sm loudspeaker, a seven foot tall, 350 pound four-way reference speaker designed for placement behind acoustically transparent screens. The culmination of more than 25 years in high-performance loudspeaker design by lifelong loudspeaker designer and PRO founder Paul Hales, the 3215 is truly a statement product.

Starting with the drivers, Pro Audio Technology went big, opting for dual 15-inch, 1400W woofers which offer a low frequency sensitivity of 102dB with one watt of input power. With over 350 square inches of surface area supported by a massive 30 pound motor system, the 3215 moves a lot of air to produce highly impactful bass. With four-inch voice coils, thermal power handling is maximized, allowing the SCR-3215sm to play at live concert sound pressure levels for extended periods of time without fear of driver failure.

At the heart of the SCR-3215sm’s mid/high frequency assembly is a 41-pound ultra high-output (114dB / 1 watt) compression driver. Its seven-inch carbon fiber diaphragm provides pistonic motion over three and one half octaves, resulting in the most effortless, coherent, and dynamically correct rendering of vocals and instrumentation possible. Dispersion and acoustic power transfer are controlled via a constant directivity horn with over 800 square inches of effective radiating surface – more than 40 times the radiating area of a typical cone midrange.

Upper-mid and high frequencies for the SCR-3215sm are supplied via a state-of-the-art coaxial compression driver utilizing an annular polymer diaphragm for silky smooth midrange and treble and uncolored harmonics to beyond 30 kHz. Mated to a large format 18” x 22” horn, the high frequency system provides 396 square inches of radiating surface to drive the air; or the equivalent of more than 500 one-inch dome tweeters per speaker. As in commercial cinema systems, the SCR-3215sm mid/high frequency assembly employs tri-amplification to maximize the performance of each driver in the system.

When paired with companion PMA Amplifiers the SCR-3215sm speakers are part of a sophisticated digital cinema system employing advanced DSP to redefine the industry’s concept of “accuracy” and sonic realism. Maximum output is >130 dB, making the SCR-3215 the definitive loudspeaker of choice for large to very large room applications, and those who desire a visceral concert experience in their home. Because they are designed to perform behind transparent screens at “Reference Levels” from more than 12 meters away, the 3215’s are also ideal for home theater installations.

“I designed my first loudspeaker when I was 16 and have never stopped looking for ways to improve speaker technology,” said Paul Hales, founder of Pro Audio Technology. “The 3215 loudspeaker started as a laboratory experiment to see how far we could push the limits of audio performance, and now it’s a reality with orders already in place. Our dealers can’t wait to let customers hear them in person.”

“With our eye on aesthetic design that Argosy has become known for, we have also partnered with industrial providers on technology for this line which has a high safety rating and offers performance standards only previously found in the medical industry.” says David Atkins, Argosy Console CEO and Design Director. “By incorporating anodized aluminum dual lifting columns with three part guidance, the AURA Sit-Stand workstation line offers a high degree of stability and operates at a very low noise level. “

The AURA Sit-Stand line is available in a larger studio-size (520) as well as personal-size (260), offering flexible and personal options for the way that individual engineers work.

The AURA Sit-Stand is available in multiple configurations. All models feature under-mount racks on the left and right. For your upper work area, choose from a spacious wrap-around desk surface, or add upward facing racks on the left and/or right wing of the desk. All the AURA Sit-Stand models provide internal cabling accommodations and pass-through for computers and multi-screen monitoring needs and feature attention to detail including a padded armrest, sliding accessory drawers, and perforated steel cover panels. By incorporating other optional accessories, such as articulating monitor arms for multi-display functionality, speaker platforms, and blank panels Argosy’s AURA offers engineers the ability to simply and easily transform the most common workspace into a Dream Studio®.

The entire line of AURA Sit-Stand Workstations and accessories is available now.
