FSR Adds 6″ and 8″ Poke-Thru Floor Boxes to SmartFit Family

New Boxes Offer High Capacity, Pleasing Aesthetics and Ease of Installation

Woodland Park, NJ – FSR, manufacturer of audio and video switching, control products, and connectivity boxes, has announced the addition of fire-rated 6” and 8” Poke-Thru floor boxes as part of its SmartFit family of products.

The easy-to-install, sturdy boxes, available in 6” and 8” sizes, present a high-capacity solution with an ultra-low profile design that eliminates the trip hazard frequently present in competitive products. The covers, available in three architectural finishes: brushed aluminum, brushed brass, and black, mix pleasing aesthetics with functionality. The entire cover door swings open 180° with two smaller cable access doors that fold down for cable egress while the cover door is secure. Each box features a variety of sub-plates that can be configured to allow the power, audio, video and data connections needed for nearly every application thus addressing the challenge of insufficient capacity.

All SmartFit poke-thru floor boxes are UL listed in Canada and the United States for fire and scrub water.

FOR-A to Showcase Key Products at Argentina’s CAPER Show

Fort Lee, N.J. – FOR-A Corporation of America, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, has announced its plans for CAPER 2012. The show, which focuses on the latest innovations in radio, television, cable, cinema, satellite, and multimedia, takes place October 24-26 at Centro Costa Salguero in Buenos Aires, Argentina. FOR-A will display a variety of their popular solutions in Booth C10.

“We’re extremely active in Latin America, and CAPER is a premiere show in this region,” said Pedro Silvestre, Sales Director, FOR-A Corp. of America. “We’re excited to showcase a selection of our key products and connect with our existing and potential customers in this dynamic marketplace. CAPER is always one of the year’s most important trade shows for FOR-A.”

Among the products that FOR-A will demo will be the award-winning VFC-7000 Super Slow Motion Camera – a lightweight, self-contained unit. The camera offers high-speed play-out and recording in HD at variable frame rates from 24 to 700 fps. It features a high-sensitivity CMOS color sensor and electronic high-speed shutter that can operate as fast as 1/200,000 of a second for filming fast-moving events and subjects without blur.

Also in the FOR-A/CAPER booth will be the FA-9500 3G/HD/SD Multi-Purpose Signal Processor. Packed with features, the FA-9500 provides up/down/cross/aspect converters, second converter, color correction, and automatic video optimizer as standard features. Two channels of HD/SD-SDI and one channel of analog composite video I/O come standard, and it’s expandable up to five channels. With SDI inputs, two channels are synchronously coupled for seamless switching between channels.

Another product on display will be the MV-42HS HD/SD Multi-Viewer. The compact, low-cost unit has a simple user interface and supports up to four asynchronous or mixed HD-SDI and SD-SDI inputs, including 1080i, 1080p, and 720p sources at a variety of frame rates. The MV-42HS has a variety of on-screen features for a customized display environment. FOR-A will also have the MV-1610HS HD/SD/Analog/PC Mixed High Resolution Multi-Viewer on display.

FOR-A’s popular storage solution, the LTR-100HS Video Archiving Recorder, is another booth highlight. The LTR-100HS is fitted with an LTO-5 drive and offers HD/SD-SDI input/output. The solution makes file ingest workflow more efficient and reduces archive space requirements. Equipped with a high quality MPEG-2 codec, the LTR-100HS includes an MXF wrapper/un-wrapper, so MXF files recorded to LTO-5 tape can be used directly by many NLE systems. LTO-5 tape cartridges can store approximately 50 hours of programming recorded at 50 Mbps.

The UFM-30FRC HD/SD Frame Rate Converter will also be demoed at FOR-A’s booth. Equipped with up/down/cross converters as standard features, the UFM-30FRC offers a motion compensation processing mode and linear converter mode to perform optimal conversions.

Other products to be displayed at CAPER include FOR-A’s HVS-4000 2 M/E – 3 M/E Digital Video Switcher, the MBP-100SX compact MXF Video Clip Server, and the VTW-330HS HD/SD Character Generator.

FSR’s New DV Wall Plate Interface Allows Analog & Digital Video to Play in the Same Sandbox

INCORPORATING LEGACY ANALOG AND DIGITAL VIDEO INTO AV SYSTEMS DESIGN JUST GOT EASIER

Woodland Park, NJ – FSR, manufacturer of audio and video switching, control products, and connectivity boxes, has introduced the Digital / Analog Wall Plate Interface -part of the new Digital Video (DV) family – to aid in the design of AV systems that incorporate legacy analog and digital video. The DV Family, aimed at professional installations requiring HDMI support, reduces the integration challenges inherent in the deployment of digital video systems.

The Digital / Analog Interface fits in a standard 2 gang electrical box and has a dual Decora faceplate available in white, black and ivory to match the décor of the installation. It accepts HDMI or DVI input, computer video and analog stereo audio. The wall plate will auto switch between the analog and digital inputs, or it can be manually switched from the front of the interface. The output is HDMI via a CAT 5e or 6 cable and can transmit 1080p up to 165 feet.

FSR offers a variety of HDMI CAT x receivers, switchers and scalars to complete the design.

Solving the Security Problem Facing Government Desktops

Advanced KVM Technology Protects Government Desktops from Cyberthreats  - http://bit.ly/NSKqzS

VNM100312 – Over a three-year period, government agencies reported a 400-percent increase in attempted incursions into federal systems – demonstrating that cyber attacks on government systems are increasing at an exponential rate. While there is no current data on the number of attempts to compromise intelligence and defense computer systems, they are no doubt under similar stress as foreign governments, terrorists, and malicious hackers target classified data and government documents, attempt to shut down networks and destroy valuable infrastructure, and steal intellectual property.

Firewall protection alone is not enough to deter sophisticated cyber threats. One of the least understood and most under-utilized preventative measures for thwarting attacks is the use of keyboard-video-mouse (KVM) switching devices that allow government employees to switch between networks with various security levels from one desktop. Cyber attacks from within an agency need to be as rigorously addressed as those originating from outside sources. However, government purchasers of KVM products need to thoroughly vet the security features, design, manufacture, and even the packaging of any product before trusting a deployment in any areas that require high security.

To learn more about securing government desktops from cyber threats with secure KVM, read the whitepaper: http://bit.ly/NSKqzS.

FSR’s HDMI Wall Plate Extender Sends Signals Further At An Appealing Price

Woodland Park, NJ – FSR, manufacturer of audio and video switching, control products, and connectivity boxes, has added the HDMI Wall Plate Extender to its new Digital Video (DV) family of products, a line aimed at professional installations requiring HDMI support. The new extender consists of a single gang Decora style wall plate transmitter and a matching receiver capable of extending HDMI signals at 1080p up to 165 feet. The HDMI Wall Plate Extender joins dozens of new FSR products being offered at extremely attractive price points.

The HDMI Wall Plate Extender has an HDMI input on the front and 2 punch down blocks for CAT x cables on the back. Punching down the CAT x cable directly to the interface has several advantages, not the least of which is the cost savings of paying to have the cable terminated. In addition, this style of connection saves space in the electrical box and reduces the strain introduced by a tight cable radius when terminated cables are used.

The HDMI Wall Plate Extender is available in white, black and ivory to match existing décor.

BHV Broadcast’s Video Ghost Featured In “What Caught My Eye” Presentation at IBC 2012

Amsterdam, The Netherlands – BHV Broadcast’s Video Ghost phantom power system captured the attention of IBC’s hugely popular “What Caught My Eye” strand on opening day of the premier annual event for global professionals engaged in content creation, management and delivery. The manufacturer of compact, cost-effective equipment for live and post-production, added the honour to Video Ghost’s growing collection of awards that already includes the prestigious Mario from TV Technology, and a Pick Hit from Broadcast Engineering.

IBC’s “What Caught My Eye” gives attendees the inside track on product and trends rocking the exhibition floor. Each morning a different industry expert, chosen for their unique perspective, shares their insight into the news, hot business issues or flag up interesting areas or demonstrations. BHV Broadcast’s Video Ghost was one of ten innovations featured in the “What Caught My Eye: Cameras, Where to Start?” session presented by Alan Roberts, and produced and chaired by David Dawson on Saturday, 8 September. Alan Roberts, an eminently qualified and respected industry expert in the realm of film and television images, drew upon his vast experience as a consultant to broadcasters and manufacturers on a world-wide scale to uncover gems on the exhibition floor with “star” potential.

BHV Broadcast’s Video Ghost was identified for its ability to bring phantom power to the digital video world. Developed as a low-cost, reliable alternative to traditional batteries, the unit provides a hefty 65 watts of power at 12V for camera head-ends and remote monitors using the existing serial digital video coaxial cable. Equally at home with SD or HD signals, it can also be used to power composite to SDI converters at the camera, avoiding significant signal degradation suffered by composite video over distances. At IBC, BHV introduced the V-lock universal mounting system as Video Ghost’s newest feature.

At IBC, BHV Broadcast also highlighted Syntax Essence, a new low-cost version of the popular and award-winning Syntax up/cross/down converter; an enhanced version of TallyHo!, a wireless tally indicator system that was featured in “What Caught My Eye” at IBC in 2010; the miniature three-input, broadcast specification Callisto Micro SDI mixer; and the award-winning Proteus multi-format, multi-purpose, motion-adaptive standards converter.
