Broadcast Pix Unveils Multi-Screen Support at InfoComm 2012

PowerAux and Multiple Panels Drive Three ‘Program’ Outputs

Billerica, Massachusetts – Broadcast Pix™ will introduce new multi-screen support for its 1 M/E Granite™ and Mica™ Video Control Centers™ at InfoComm 2012, which runs June 13-15 in Las Vegas, Nev. (Booth C7345). Now, three “programs” can be generated using the system’s program output and two enhanced PowerAux outputs, and each can be controlled by a separate panel or Soft Panel.

The new multi-screen technology is ideal for driving three image magnification (I-MAG) screens, as each enjoys patented technology to maintain one frame of constant delay for continual lip sync throughout a presentation. In contrast, other systems have variable delay that changes depending on format/aspect conversion, effects, picture-in-picture (PiP), and other actions, plus many start with high delay as well. With PowerAux, additional outputs from the system stay in sync, even when different content is being displayed.

PowerAux can also be used to produce any combination of I-MAG screens, Internet feeds, and live television productions. Each new PowerAux output can switch between any camera, clip, graphic, or even program, and then add up to six keys on top. For example, while the program out provides I-MAG on one screen, one PowerAux can provide different programming to another screen while the second PowerAux can be used to feed different content to a streaming appliance for online distribution. All outputs can be controlled through the system control panel – for richer productions, each PowerAux output can be individually controlled through a Soft Panel, iPad app, or another physical control panel.

“Switchers don’t have to limit you to creating for one screen. Now, thanks to our multiple panels and our new dual PowerAux, you can create compelling video on three screens at once,” said Ken Swanton, CEO. “With our exceptional low constant delay, it’s great for the booming I-MAG market, plus Internet and television audiences, too. Producers can optimize their compositions for all audiences on any size screen.”

PowerAux is a free download available in Beta now, and will be available for all Granite and Mica customers with the release of Video Control Center 3.1 software in July.

BHV Broadcast’s Video Ghost Picks Up Another Award

PHANTOM POWER MODULES PRESENTED WITH BROADCAST ENGINEERING’S PICK HIT AT NAB 2012

Las Vegas, NV – BHV Broadcast, well known for manufacturing award-winning compact, cost-effective equipment for live and post production, picked up yet another honor at NAB 2012. The Company’s ugraded version of its Video Ghost phantom power system received a Pick Hit award from Broadcast Engineering, one of only 23 presented at the world’s largest electronic media show.

Pick Hits are amongst the most prestigious technical awards given at NAB. A panel of independent judges tours the show floor for three days looking for innovative products and technology. The judges make their selections based on several criteria, including the product’s capacity to bring technical and financial improvements to a facility’s operation. Broadcast Engineering’s editors and publishers are not involved in the selection process.

BHV Broadcast’s Video Ghost was recognized for its ability to bring phantom power to the digital video world. Developed as a low-cost, reliable alternative to traditional batteries, Video Ghost was initially launched at NAB 2011 where it received the prestigious Mario Award, and returned to the Exhibition Hall in 2012 with significant upgrades. The system now provides a hefty 65 watts of power at 12V for camera head-ends and remote monitors using the existing serial digital video cable. Equally at home with SD or HD signals, it can be used to power composite to SDI converters at the camera, avoiding the considerable signal degradation suffered by composite video over distances.

Impulse Creative Group Directs GreenWaves III Multimedia Concert with Broadcast Pix Granite 5000

Billerica, Massachusetts – May 10, 2012 – Broadcast Pix™ today announced that Impulse Creative Group, a systems integrator based in North Hollywood, Calif., used a Granite™ 5000 Video Control Center™ for GreenWaves III, a multimedia concert event, on April 11 at UCF Arena in Orlando, Fla. Presented by the University of Central Florida’s Campus Activities Board, GreenWaves is an annual event that promotes “green” sustainability awareness and initiatives.

Impulse Creative Group handles production design and show management for live events, as well as system design and installation for commercial and residential environments. While the company has installed a number of Broadcast Pix Video Control Centers in schools, GreenWaves III was the first time the company used a Granite 5000 for a live show. The system was rented from Complete Production Resources in Orlando.

Nate Selvidio, co-owner of Impulse Creative Group, said Granite 5000 was the ideal production system for the concert, which featured a 40-foot, triangle-shaped projection screen on stage. “All the video projection was controlled and masked from the Broadcast Pix, and the side screens were controlled from it, too,” he explained. “We used DVE effects to position robotic cameras to be in different areas of the on-stage video wall.”

There were 12 sources in use during the show, including robotic and handheld cameras, computer-based graphics, and a Grass Valley iDDR digital playout center. Fluent™ Macros were used for camera recalls and simultaneous playback of multiple sources. “The show was very content heavy, a lot of HD video playback,” Selvidio said. “Everything was in sync, everything could be controlled through one unit, and video quality was awesome.”

Impulse Creative Group also handled production for comedian Aziz Ansari, who had his opening U.S. tour date at UCF Arena the night before GreenWaves III. “The show was the same day as load in, so having everything in one box definitely saved a lot of time,” added Selvidio, who directed both shows. “Setup was fast and easy, everything worked great, and it was awesome having such a reliable and versatile switching system for these two shows.”

About Impulse Creative Group Impulse Creative provides clients with unique designs using modern ideas and concepts that give all our clients that extra touch of creativity. We offer full service project management – meaning that we meet with clients to determine their specific needs and then design and install a complete technology solution. AVocation Systems Introduces 8×8 HDMI Matrix for AV Distribution

With industrial design suited for the most demanding HDMI installations, the 8×8 Matrix provides the reliability and functionality dealers need for large AV distribution projects.

Broomfield, CO – May 14, 2012 – AVocation Systems, Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of professional grade audio/video distribution products, proudly announces the new Mountain Series 8×8 HDMI Matrix (HX-0808H). The new 8×8 HDMI matrix is the first in a series of coveted HDMI products AVocation Systems has planned for 2012.

HDMI distribution has its challenges. Long distances, control of numerous components, and unreliable switching can all present problems in large scale HDMI installations. AVocation System’s new 8×8 matrix provides reliable and true router capabilities: any of the eight HDMI inputs can be routed to any or all of the eight HDMI outputs and EDID/Key management virtually eliminates latency between switch times. The 8×8 matrix also has the ability to take signals from single key cable boxes out to multiple displays (as opposed to just one), a common failure of many matrix routers. AVocation also includes drivers for most control system partners, a welcome feature for installers working with large home or commercial automation systems.

“Dealers and installers are well aware of the limitations of HDMI,” said Trent Mulligan, sales and marketing manager for AVocation Systems. “The best way to deal with these constraints is to work with AV distribution and accessory products that are engineered to alleviate some of the pain felt by working with HDMI in a distributed environment.”

AVocation System’s Mountain Series 8×8 Matrix is compatible with HDMI 1.4 and has support for 3-D content, all while providing up to 12-bit deep color with resolutions up to 1080p 60Hz pixel rates (225 MHz). Control options are IP, RS-232, USB, and Infrared. HDCP 1.1 compliant, the matrix is rack mountable (ears included) and consumes two rack units. AVocation Systems is also an ISPCS Plugfest Participant with a demonstrated commitment to interoperability.

“AVocation has built a reputation for engineering affordable AV distribution products that withstand the tests of time, environment and heavy usage,” said Mulligan. “Our 8×8 HDMI Matrix is no different and we are committed to helping dealers deal with HDMI challenges through product innovation and support.”

AVocation’s bold shipping policy for The Mountain Series line of HDMI products includes a five-year advanced replacement warranty as well as a 100% money back guarantee. All products are made in the USA. For more information, please visit www.avocationsystems.com or call 877-805-6639. The AVocation Systems Youtube Channel also has helpful product and informational videos.
