Display Development Adds New Models to its In-Wall Home Theater Projection Systems Series

Batavia, NY—January 2013—Display Development, innovator of the Architectural Video category, proudly announces the latest additions to its series of In-Wall Projection systems made exclusively for Home Theater applications. The new IW7 and IW8 offer extreme flexibility at an unprecedented value. The IW8 will make its world debut in the Home Cinema Europe Booth #N-153 during the 2013 ISE Show.

“With the introduction of the IW7 and IW8, we can now extend our in-wall projection systems to a wide array of customers, offering innovative, space-saving solutions for environments where a ceiling-mounted projector is not practical,” said Jim Burns, president of Display Development. “As always, we design our systems with integrators in mind, and we pride ourselves on being the only company to deliver a concealed video system that does not sacrifice performance for convenience.”

The Display Development IW7 and IW8 systems include single-chip DLP® projectors, VP 100 video scaler for high performance processing and flexibility, and Smart Cooling technology for efficient, reliable operation. Designed for popular screen sizes, the IW7 boasting 4,200 Lumens, is ideal for brightly lit family/media rooms, while the IW8 outputting 1,800 Lumens, is capable of delivering the color accuracy needed for a true home theater system in a light-controlled environment.

The IW systems create a TV solution that is far superior to a flat panel in terms of image size, fidelity and overall experience, with no impact on a room’s décor, coupled with the ability to provide a completely concealed system when not in use.

Display Development's IW8 In-Wall Video Projection System designed exclusively for home theater applications makes its debuts at #ISE2013.

Clear-Com Features Wide Range of Intercom Offerings at ISE 2013

AMSTERDAM, 28 JANUARY 2013 ─ Clear-Com®, a global leader in critical voice communications systems, is featuring its latest range of intercom offerings at the 2013 ISE show (Stand 11-E67). Among the systems available for demonstration are the recently unveiled Eclipse HX matrices and HelixNet Partyline system. The company also presents its BroaMan interface option and the latest upgrades to the Tempest®2400 wireless intercom.

“Clear-Com has made several exciting product announcements in the last few months, and we’re pleased to show them to the ISE community,” says Dan Muchmore, Regional Sales Manager for UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, Clear-Com. “Our 40 years of experience in the dynamic world of Broadcast and Live Productions have allowed us to build a portfolio of advanced wired and wireless intercom technologies that essentially meets the demands of many System Integrators, Consultants, and End-Users within the Pro-Audio space. Clear-Com products and services have resolved communication challenges for a variety of applications and markets, including education, corporate, cruise ships and offshore.”

The Eclipse HX Digital Matrix Systems, along with the Eclipse HX (EHX) Configuration Software, are powerful matrix intercoms that offer fast performance, high system capacity and simplified operations and administration. Eclipse HX comprises the Eclipse HX-Omega, Eclipse HX-Median and Eclipse HX-PiCo matrices, as well as the EHX software. In facilities where matrix intercom systems and resources are often shared across multiple areas, fast and highly intuitive systems are critical to reliably execute system-wide changes in real time and with minimal impact on system users. Users can make changes on the Eclipse HX systems quickly and without advanced notice. This capability is especially important in live operations, such as theatre productions.

The EHX software was architected for rapid processing of configuration and routing cards to optimise system performance and speed. Its user interface is designed to be much more intuitive and easier to set up. The Eclipse HX-Omega port density offers 460 ports per 6RU frame, making it the highest density intercom matrix on the market. PiCo-Link provides intelligent audio linking between co-located Eclipse HX-PiCos, allowing users to expand resources with just two rack-unit spaces. Clear-Com’s V-Series panels, frame cards and interfaces are compatible with the new Eclipse HX range to provide a seamless logical upgrade path for existing Eclipse customers.

The Tempest®2400 with Seamless Roaming and Tempest®2400 MasterBelt add advanced wireless capabilities to the Tempest family of digital wireless intercom systems. With the latest additions, users are afforded even more wireless coverage options. The Tempest2400 with Seamless Roaming is ideal for sound designers working at multi-venue or large-scale events, as it allows users to move freely throughout large venues separated by sizeable distances. This includes multi-room complexes, multi-level facilities and sports arenas. Users can effortlessly and seamlessly roam across 16 different coverage zones without interference or dropouts.

For small-scale productions, where an untethered and mobile system is needed, the Tempest2400 MasterBelt is an ideal wireless solution. It offers most of the features, reliability and robustness of the Tempest2400 BaseStation within a compact, portable packaging of a BeltStation. The MasterBelt can be paired with any standard Tempest2400 two-channel BeltStation to create a six full-featured, full-duplex two-channel system.

The HelixNet™ Partyline Intercom System is the industry’s first digital network partyline intercom with a unique set of capabilities to provide efficiency, cost-savings and flexibility from setup to operation. The revolutionary HelixNet platform has proven itself by providing communication at high-profile events such as the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics.

Included in the HelixNet portfolio of products are the HMS-4X Main Station, HBP-2X HelixNet Beltpacks, the HLI-2W2 two-wire Interface Module and the HLI-4W2 four-wire Interface Module. Each HMS-4X Main Station offers four intercom channels, program audio and power for up to 20 beltpacks over a shield twisted-pair cable (e.g. microphone cable, CAT-5 or CAT-6). Users can also work off one’s existing shielded cable infrastructure to centrally manage the entire system from the Main Station with a single cable. The HelixNet beltpack also functions as a source assignment panel, allowing users to select any two of four channels to get the job done. Furthermore, the high fidelity system delivers superb audio clarity and is rugged enough to withstand demanding work environments.

Clear-Com will also feature the BroaMan DiViNe V3R-FX-ICOM-SDI video and intercom signal transport interface, the latest offering from its expanded partnership with Optocore/BroaMan. The DiViNe V3R-FX-ICOM-SDI provides scalable, protocol-independent routing, repeating, transport and distribution of multiple signals over optical fibre. It is equipped with (four) four-wire RJ45 matrix ports and (four) four-wire RJ45 panel ports. This ensures that either matrices or intercom panels can be connected to the unit using standard CAT cables. It also allows for distribution of audio and control data through an optical network. The unit is capable of housing up to six SD/HD/3G-SDI coaxial video inputs or outputs that are converted to and from single-mode DiViNe optical fibre links.

Here is a sampling of what will be shown in stand 1-N53 by Screen Innovations:

Black Diamond™ Zero Edge G2 Projection Screens

The New Black Diamond Zero Edge G2 by Screen Innovations is the world’s first and only multi-directional ambient light rejecting projection screen. Featuring a rigid panel, a pencil-thin 10mm bezel, and the award-winning Black Diamond screen technology that can boost a projector’s contrast by over 900%, Black Diamond Zero Edge projection screens have the look and feel of a flat panel TV, yet blend flawlessly with surrounding décor, deliver a stunning image, and provide a fully immersive entertainment experience for light or dark room applications.

A new frame design provides better structural support, an integrated track system provides the option to inlay optional full perimeter LED Lighting behind the screen for added effect, and optimized shipping cartons simplify job site handling and can reduce freight costs by more than 65% on average. Due to the company’s proprietary Zero Edge™ design, SI is currently the only manufacturer that offers LED lighting and is promoting the benefits of using backlighting with two-piece projection systems as a way to add depth, warmth, and to enhance surrounding design and décor elements in order to make larger displays more welcome in both residential and commercial settings.

Available with Black .8 gain, Dark Gray 1.4 gain, or Silver 2.7 gain screen materials, Black Diamond Zero Edge G2 offers the most affordable, innovative, and versatile projection screen technology available, setting a new aesthetic standard that is currently unmatched in the marketplace.

Black Diamond™ Motorized

A new and truly unique motorized design utilizing SI’s award-winning Black Diamond ambient light rejection screen technology, Black Diamond Motorized is a sleek and sexy flat panel alternative that actually disappears when not in use, ideal for virtually any environment or application. Utilizing one motor, four custom helixes, and a spool of slender aircraft cable, Black Diamond Motorized silently lowers a thin wing containing the rolled Black Diamond screen downward from a recessed ceiling-mounted cassette. The cable-hung wing then stops, and from it, a small tube quickly emerges and lowers itself down to an adjustable, pre-determined image height, leaving only the image space in sight.

Because Black Diamond screens do not require masking or any black drop material whatsoever, there is no visible material above, below, or on either side of the screen surface, allowing the images projected on Black Diamond Motorized to appear as though they are suspended in air. Unlike flat panel TVs, Black Diamond Motorized delivers zero glare and reflection when used in a bright environment, and by virtue of its industry-leading Black Diamond ambient light rejection screen technology, light scatter is measurably reduced by over 75%. Delivering a next-level entertainment experience while literally disappearing into the room’s existing décor when not in use, Black Diamond Motorized appeals to the senses – and satisfies the needs of - a diverse audience in either residential or commercial environments. Black Diamond Motorized is the ultimate blend of art + science.

SI has a projection screen solution for nearly any budget, any application, and any aesthetic. ISE 2013 attendees are encouraged to visit the Home Cinema Europe stand (#1-N53), see the demo, and learn more about delivering next-level entertainment experiences to a diverse clientele by incorporating Screen Innovations projection screens into their installations.

Buckcherry Rocks with The RapcoHorizon Company

As Devoted RoadHog Cable and Custom Splitter Snake Users, Buckcherry will Greet Fans at the Company’s Booth during NAMM

ANAHEIM, CA, JANUARY 25, 2012 ― Hard rock group Buckcherry can jam out more than ever thanks to The RapcoHorizon Company, a leading manufacturer of audio/video interfacing and cable equipment. Whether they’re on tour or at an individual performance, Buckcherry’s band members and techs all rely on the quality of RapcoHorizon’s custom splitter snakes and RoadHog cables. The band will also be signing autographs at the company’s booth during the 2013 NAMM Show (Hall C, Booth 4558) on Sunday, January 27 at 12 p.m.

Designed for the working musician, the RoadHog cables are road ready and tour tough, employing the most rugged constructions without sacrificing sound quality. Buckcherry used the RoadHog cables most recently on its 15-stop UK tour from northern Scotland to southern England, where the cables stood up to all the abuses typical of a hard rock tour.

“Out of all the shows we played in Europe, we didn’t have one audio incident,” says Buckcherry Tour Manager, Production Manager and Front-of-House Engineer Stephen Shaw. “When it comes to the RoadHog cables, I never have a problem with something coming up. If that does happen, it’s usually the microphone, not the RapcoHorizon stuff. It just takes another potential mishap out of the equation.”

RoadHog cables are built with PVC outer jackets that are durable and thick, yet flexible, and pure copper conductors and shields. This design ensures that the RoadHog cables provide an advanced sound and reliable operation for Buckcherry and other touring bands.

“I started using RapcoHorizon cables during my previous roles with Foreigner and Selena Gomez,” says A.J. “Jukebox” Srybnik, Buckcherry guitar tech. “I had such a good experience—they were reliable, clear and had an impressive single response and durability—the best I’d seen. So, when I started with Buckcherry in 2011 and saw they were using various cabling, I knew it was time to make the call to RapcoHorizon.”

RapcoHorizon cut and labeled every cable to the band’s desired method of organization,, making for easier setup and use. This way, whether it’s running the microphone and instrument cables to the main RapcoHorizon snake behind the drums, or running the vocals to another RapcoHorizon snake down stage, the cable setup saves the band’s crew members from wasting time figuring out what goes where.

“RapcoHorizon has beyond amazing customer service,” adds Shaw. “I can’t imagine working with anyone else. They are just fantastic, going over and above the call of duty. As for the cables, they are well built and do exactly what they are supposed to do. My confidence level is so high with these products that if something goes wrong they are usually the last thing I check.”

RapcoHorizon RoadHog cables are designed to work perfectly no matter how often they are put to use. Srybnik says that employing them every night to run audio to his panel board and effects pedals has been a great improvement from the previous setup. Another benefit of the RapcoHorizon cables is their ability to coil nicely. The quality of the cables and flexible jacket ensure that they not only lay flat on stage, but also roll up easily without causing bends.

“The guys can stomp on the RoadHog cables all night with their boots, and no matter what they seem to do to the cables, I know I can always count on them to work,” concludes Srybnik. “With other brands, the connectors often have a tendency to come apart during wear-and-tear, but not the RapcoHorizon ones. They have great strain relief and are very durable. The way these cables are manufactured is just exceptional. Using an all-RapcoHorizon rig, I can hear and feel the difference in my cable response compared to the original assorted cables.”

Srybnik says that the guitar and bass players have also noticed a difference in their sound since the RapcoHorizon cables became a Buckcherry standard. He has even been able to get a little more gain and EQ from his gear now that he’s all RoadHog.

Shaw has been with Buckcherry for more than eight years. Prior to joining the group, he worked for such performers as Kid Rock, Chevelle, Drowning Pool and System of a Down, and also toured with the comedian Dane Cook. Srybnik began working with Buckcherry in late 2011. Since then, he has introduced RapcoHorizon into the audio arsenal for the rapper Jay-Z.

Buckcherry is currently promoting its new album, Confessions, set for release on February 19, 2013. Having spent the holidays at home, the band recently took off for a U.S. and Canadian tour.

The RapcoHorizon Company, located in Jackson, Missouri, is one of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of audio, video, home theater, data and telecommunications cable in both bulk wire and assemblies. Used worldwide by concert touring sound companies, video and sound contractors, recording studios, system integrators, audiophiles and musicians, The RapcoHorizon Company’s products provide optimal flexibility and premium performance. The company’s state-of-the-art Custom Shop can modify existing products or build new devices to meet any need. HARMAN’s Soundcraft Provides Sound and Lighting Training at Winter NAMM 2013

ANAHEIM, California — At Winter NAMM 2013, HARMAN’s Soundcraft will host a seminar at the H.O.T. (Hands-On Training) Zone titled, “Lighting Control for Sound Guys.” The session will introduce attendees to the DMX protocol and will provide training using Soundcraft’s Si Performer—the first console to integrate sound and lighting control in one board.

The H.O.T. (Hands-On Training) Zone provides live educational sessions and innovative ideas for professionals in the pro audio, entertainment technologies, music business operations, recording, live sound, DJ, house of worship, commercial systems contractors/integrators, and stage and lighting industries.

“The Si Performer is revolutionary in its integration of sound and lighting disciplines and while it solves a litany of challenges, it also raises the issue that many sound engineers do not know how to operate a lighting console, nor are all lighting engineers familiar with the ins and outs of running a sound board,” said Richard Ayres, Product Manager for Soundcraft, who will be running the seminar. “Our session at the H.O.T. Zone will aim to provide engineers with a comprehensive understanding of both disciplines.”

Thanks to integrated DMX functionality, the Soundcraft Si Performer range adds lighting control options to an already impressive and powerful audio feature set. The Si Performer consoles have an input capacity of 80 inputs to mix and the Si Performer 2 features 24 mic and eight line inputs, while the Si Performer 3 boasts 32 mic and eight line inputs, plus four FX return channels. The unique integration of a DMX512 port offers core lighting control. The first release of software provides four scene masters (A-D) with associated slave channels on the ALT fader layers, individual colour intensities or parameters are set on the slave faders with an overall master level fader, which itself may be assigned to any of the main fader layers for simultaneous access to audio and lighting levels.

“Lighting Control for Sound Guys” will be held on Sunday, January 27 at 1:30 PM, in Room 203 A-B at the Anaheim Convention Center. For more information, please visit http://www.namm.org/thenammshow/2013/hot-zone/lighting-control-sound-guys
