NAB2013: Digital Nirvana to Introduce First Cloud-Based Solution for Streamed Media Monitoring

AnyStream IQ™ Provides Recording, Logging, and Monitoring of Streamed Broadcasts for Web Captioning Compliance and Proof of Advertising

Newark, CA – At NAB 2013 Digital Nirvana will introduce AnyStream IQ™ – the industry’s first cloud-based solution for streamed media monitoring. It provides reliable recording, logging and monitoring of live and recorded streamed broadcasts for web captioning compliance and proof of advertising. Digital Nirvana will exhibit in Booth N3434 during the NAB convention, being held from April 8-11th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

AnyStream IQ is designed specifically for the new streamed media monitoring requirements of broadcasters, content creators, aggregators and distributors.

Given today’s move toward “TV Anywhere,” broadcasters are expanding the video delivery ecosystem and are streaming video content to desktops and mobile devices. Within this streamed programming, they are inserting ads that are different from ads running during the traditional broadcast. TV stations must create a log of their streaming content in order to provide a “proof of airing” to their advertising clients. There will be a growing need for online ad monitoring since industry experts are expecting a triple digit increase in ad growth for online media through 2017.

Another situation increasing the need for live stream monitoring is the new FCC web captioning requirements. These new mandates require broadcasters to provide web captioning for hearing impaired viewers. Broadcasters must provide proof of compliance for these new mandates as well.

“AnyStream IQ is the first cloud-based solution to record and monitor streamed media for web captioning compliance and proof of advertising,” said Hiren Hindocha, president and CEO of Digital Nirvana. “We’re extremely eager to demonstrate this at NAB this year. We expect a very enthusiastic response from content creators who must comply with the new FCC mandates on streamed content. It addresses many challenges they now face, and greatly simplifies the entire process.”

AnyStream IQ provides the following capabilities:

-Records and monitors live and recorded streams for proof of web caption compliance
-Provides “proof of airing” for advertisers

It is a cloud-based subscription service, with no hardware or software to install. Users just specify the URL of the stream, and AnyStream IQ records the streams, extracts the closed captions (if any), and provides a browser-based interface to search the recorded streams. With its Cut/Clip feature, users can make frame-accurate in and out points on video using the H.264 standard and share the clip for either compliance or proof of airing purposes. AnyStream IQ can easily complement a station’s current, in-house compliance logging system.

AnyStream IQ records both FLV and HLS streaming formats for desktop computers, tablets and smart phones. DIt extracts closed captions accompanying the streams. It also extracts advertisements within the streams.

As a cloud-based solution, AnyStream IQ offers several budget-friendly benefits. It eliminates upfront installation and server maintenance costs, and it turns monitoring into an operating expense as opposed to a capital expense. With subscription-based pricing, the cost of monitoring is spread over the course of an entire year.

In addition to AnyStream IQ, Digital Nirvana offers the traditional broadcast monitoring solution through its flagship product, Monitor IQTM Used by broadcasters worldwide, Monitor IQ provides a range of unique features including centralized management, automatic ad detection, a director’s audio track, as well as an advanced metadata harvester™. Monitor IQ combines the functionality of content recording (HD and SD in full resolution), content searching, retrieve and repurposing, Web publishing, signal monitoring, air-check logging, archiving, ad verification and tracking, and competitive analysis in a scalable networked appliance.

NAB2013: Hybrid to Showcase New Features, Third Party Interfaces to Range of Virtual Studio and Robotics Camera Systems

Photo-Realistic Virtual Set, Social Media Interface and Enhanced Anchor/Video Interaction among New Highlights

Montrouge, France –At NAB 2013 Hybrid, a leading provider of real-time graphics and robotic camera systems, will present a dynamic display of its product line working together and with third party products to deliver interactive presentations with unsurpassed visual imagery. Groundbreaking new features to several products will be introduced. Hybrid will exhibit in Booth C9908 during the NAB convention, being held from April 8-11th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Among the highlights in the Hybrid stand will be demonstrations of its line of tracked and trackless virtual studio solutions, augmented reality technology, robotic camera systems, social media integration, second screen interaction, and integration between its product line and Snell and Blackmagic Design switchers.

“We’re thrilled with the opportunity that NAB presents to our company,” said Olivier Cohen, CEO, Hybrid. “This is an exciting time for Hybrid, and we’re looking forward to showing off our latest advances on such a high-profile stage as NAB.”

New Features of Tracking and Trackless Virtual Studio Systems
Hybrid’s tracking virtual set solution, Krypton 3D, boasts a complete range of new features to be introduced at NAB 2013. Already a powerful system, Krypton’s real-time 3D engine can be coupled with Hybrid’s Chrome compact, broadcast robotic jib to make it even more precise. Using a Krypton system, the company will present a photo-realistic virtual set within its NAB booth this year.

Among Krypton’s new features:

-Shaders such as bump mapping and automatic depth of field
-Multi-layering ability
-New 3D effects module

Unlike other virtual studio solutions, there is zero audio or video delay when Krypton is used in conjunction with Hybrid robotic systems. It can also interface to all third party motion tracking devices. Krypton can also import 3D models, including geometry, textures, shaders and lights from all major 3D modeling software. It supports an unlimited number of pre-recorded video files and HD/SD live video insertion.

New for Hybrid’s trackless virtual set, Neon, is the ability to shoot in remote locations for the same production. Neon is based upon the same core engine as the higher-end Krypton system, but it allows for virtual camera movements in real-time from fixed cameras on set. It requires only a PC and software and operates with a simple drag-and-drop process. It creates the illusion of sophisticated camera moves within a virtual set without use of a tracking system, chroma keyer or other accessories – this allows Neon to be a fully portable virtual studio system. Neon can import 3D scenes and models from all common modeling software, such as 3D Max, Maya, Softimage.

Neon comes at a price point that makes the system accessible to video producers at many levels, including local TV stations, schools, new media facilities, independent production companies, in-house corporate studios, etc.

The demonstration of virtual sets continues in the Hybrid/NAB booth with a journey through augmented reality. Hybrid will show the use of virtual set technology to replace video walls in a physical set environment, while enhancing program production with spectacular graphics.

New Social Media Interfaces

Hybrid will show a new interface with never.no that enables an on-air presenter to see and respond to live feeds from Google+, Twitter and Facebook when using a Hybrid virtual set. Using URL’s specific to the program they’re watching, viewers can respond in real-time to social media comments and what’s happening on screen.

All Hybrid solutions are now designed with interaction between the anchor and the content in mind. New at NAB is the ability for the television host to interact with content via second screen applications or with interactive devices like Microsoft’s Kinect. The graphic controller is now available for download on Android devices.

Broadcast Robotics
Hybrid will showcase its entire line of robotics camera systems within a dedicated area of its NAB booth. Titanium and Silver, Hybrid’s two pan/tilt/zoom/focus systems, will be used in the robotics zone as part of a non-virtual production demonstration. And the company’s unique robotic jib, Chrome, will be utilized for a virtual set/augmented reality presentation.

Switcher Integration

Also new at NAB this year are native interfaces between Hybrid products and Snell’s Kahuna and Blackmagic Design’s ATEM switchers that enable users to control camera robotics, virtual cameras, 3D animation, and virtual set switching directly from the switcher.

About Hybrid

Hybrid is a leading manufacturer of broadcast production technologies. The company’s mission is to develop solutions and products that allow the digital media market to produce value-added content within an integrated workflow. Our product range includes virtual studio and augmented reality solutions and broadcast robotic camera supports. Prism Sound Shows The New Lyra Audio Interface At Prolight + Sound 2013

European studio producers, musicians and DJs will have their first opportunity to see Prism Sound’s new Lyra family of Audio Interfaces at this year’s Prolight + Sound exhibition in Frankfurt (Hall 5.1, stand B50A).

With Lyra, Prism Sound is bringing its high performance audio technology to an even wider audience. This brand new family of interfaces is aimed at musicians, composers, project studio owners, DJs, re-mixers and other audio content producers such as radio and podcasting. It is also anticipated that high-end home audio enthusiasts will find the USB interface and stereo configuration with digital volume control an attractive package.

Based on the award-winning and critically acclaimed Orpheus interface, Lyra allows music recording professionals to access the power and sophistication of the Orpheus audio path and clock circuitry, but in a smaller package and at a much improved price point.

“Lyra connects seamlessly with both Macs and PCs via a simple USB interface,” says Graham Boswell, Sales and Marketing Director for Prism Sound. “For recording professionals who don’t need eight channels of analogue I/O, Lyra is the perfect interface because it allows them to access Prism Sound quality in a convenient package and at an affordable price.”

Prism Sound plans to launch a number of different variants of Lyra and has started the ball rolling with Lyra 1 and Lyra 2. Both incorporate new ARM Cortex-based ‘Xcore’ processor design offering class-compliant USB interfacing, plus DSP and a low latency ‘console-quality’ digital mixer for foldback monitoring. Both products also have optical SPDIF capability and Lyra 2 also supports ADAT.

Lyra 1, which retails at £1,349 plus VAT, will be of particular interest to the musician and project studio market. This unit offers two analogue input channels – one for instrument/line and one for mic/line – plus two DA output channels and optical-only digital I/O. With Lyra 1, musicians can connect a guitar and a microphone through the input channels, plug into their software mixer via a simple USB connection and start laying down basic tracks in a matter of minutes.

Lyra 2, which retails at £1,849 plus VAT, takes the concept a little further by offering two AD input channels with switchable microphone, instrument or line input modes and four DA output channels. Both optical-only digital I/O and copper S/PDIF are available on this version of Lyra, which also offers wordclock In/Out enabling synchronization with other digital devices.

Both products are ergonomically designed to look as good as they sound. The front panel has a master volume control assignable to selected output channels, while the unit’s small size – just 11 inches wide – makes it very easy to transport for musicians, producers and DJs on the road. For studio use, Prism Sound can supply dedicated rack mounts as an extra.

“We know there is a market for Lyra because our customers have been demanding this product ever since we launched Orpheus,” Graham Boswell adds. “However, we are very protective of our reputation for delivering the highest possible audio quality so we were not going to bring any product to market until we were 100% convinced that it could live up to our exacting specifications. Lyra does just that, and we are very proud to introduce it.”

Lyra will start shipping in April 2013 and will be fully supported by Prism Sound’s acclaimed technical and after-sales service staff.

NAB2013: IDC to Introduce Next Generation Laser Platform for Targeted Ad Insertion

Solution helps broadcasters increase ad revenues and reduce costs by delivering targeted local ad insertion and satellite reception in one edge device

Ottawa, ON – International Datacasting (TSX: IDC), a global leader in digital content distribution for the world’s premiere radio and television broadcasters, will launch the next generation of its LASER Targeted Ad Insertion Platform at the 2013 NAB Show, April 8 – 11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (Booth SU3711). The LASER platform provides targeted local ad insertion and DVB-S/S2 satellite video reception in a single edge device.

Globally, broadcasters and service providers lose millions of dollars in ad revenues every year because of licensing, regulatory and copyright issues specific to certain regions throughout the world. With the LASER solution, operators can provide regionalized ad insertion and blackout management for satellite delivered content – from one cost-effective platform. The solution’s blackout capabilities ensure that the broadcaster can safely sell and distribute any network-wide ad, even if it is not permitted or suitable for the entire distribution footprint.

“With the LASER platform, television networks and content redistributors can capture a greater share of ad revenue,” said Del Lippert, Chairman of the Board and Interim CEO at IDC. The LASER platform provides greater flexibility for broadcasters to offer advertisers both dynamic ad targeting and flexible ad footprints, enabling the best possible brand experience.”

“We believe the LASER platform solves crucial broadcasting needs at an attractive price-point,” Lippert added. “This next generation product has passed extensive testing by an international broadcaster and is well on its way to helping broadcasters open new doors to maximizing their advertising inventories and revenues.”

A unique set of VR features coupled with a sturdy twin arm structure provides vibration-free, high performance with a single operator. The VR Dolly Crane System allows any studio to be easily transformed into a virtual environment without the need for targets on the ceiling, floors, or walls, or infrared sensors. Reliable, accurate and immediate VR data, including pan/tilt, zoom, focus and X/Y camera date is sent to the graphic computer via RS422 cable. A Pan Bar control unit maximizes optimal pan & tilt operation.
The TK-53VRII also features Shotoku’s unique SPi-Touch 2 point calibration system for quick set-up.

JVC to Debut New Products, Upgraded Capabilities for GY-HM650 ProHD Mobile News Camera at NAB 2013

WAYNE, NJ – JVC Professional Products Company, a division of JVC Americas Corp., will introduce a variety of new products, reveal major broadcast industry sales, and unveil an upgraded version of its handheld mobile news camera, the GY-HM650, at the 2013 NAB Show (Booth C4314), which runs April 8-11 in Las Vegas, Nev.

When equipped with a Verizon 4G LTE modem connected to the back of the camera via USB, the GY-HM650 2.0 upgrade leverages the camera’s unique dual codec technology to stream live video transmissions in the background while shooters continue to record footage. The camera already records HD or SD footage in multiple file formats – including native XDCAM EX™ (.MP4), Final Cut Pro™ (.MOV), and AVCHD – and is capable of uploading recorded clips to an FTP server.

“Attendees were very impressed with our built-in file transfer technology when we debuted the GY-HM650 at the NAB Show last year, but that just scratched the surface of what this camera can do,” said Dave Walton, JVC assistant vice president of marketing and communications. “We have added direct support for 4G LTE modems and leveraged our unique dual codec technology to generate live TV streams. Now, you can continue to record footage while you transmit video back to your broadcast facility in real time. It all happens in the camera with a small Verizon modem attached, so there’s no backpack or other add-ons required.”

Customers who currently own GY-HM650s will be able add the new features at no charge with a firmware upgrade.

Also at NAB, JVC will premiere its new GY-HM70U ProHD camcorder. With an MSRP of $1,995, the GY-HM70 will appeal to event/wedding videographers and educational users who want a full-sized, shoulder-mount camcorder but have limited budgets. Built around a 1/2.3-inch 12 megapixel CMOS imager and JVC’s advanced FALCONBRID high-speed processor, the camera records 1080/60p, 1080/60i, and 480/60i (SD) footage in the AVCHD Progressive format to dual SDHC/SDXC memory cards.

Priced for the entry-level professional video market, the GY-HM70 offers a number of innovative features, including JVC’s unique, hot swappable dual battery system, which allows for hours of continuous, uninterrupted shooting. It also includes a high quality 29.5mm wide-angle GT lens that offers smooth 16x dynamic zoom performance, as well as an optical image stabilizer, auto focus, focus assist, and manual focus, iris, and shutter controls.

JVC’s new PS-840UD Professional Series ProVérité 4K 84-inch LCD monitor will make its NAB debut as well. Designed for commercial installations requiring high quality on-screen images at an affordable price, it has a native screen resolution of 3840×2160, four times the resolution of HD, with 120Hz refresh rate and 10 bit color depth. The monitor is scheduled to ship in June with a suggested list price of $14,000.

JVC will also introduce a new portable/studio monitor, the DT-F9L5U. Ideal as a camera viewfinder or field production monitor, it features an 8.2-inch IPS panel with 1280×800 pixel array and mercury-free white LED backlight, plus a variety of inputs for current and legacy equipment. Also on display, JVC’s new GM-552D is a high contrast, full HD 55-inch monitor designed for 24/7 continuous operation in broadcast facilities and other applications.

Traditionally, JVC provides one of the NAB Show’s larger booths. Located in the Central Hall, this year’s exhibit will include a presentation area (with seating) to showcase the GY-HM650 2.0. An expansive camera demonstration area will provide hands-on access to GY-HM600 and GY-HM650 ENG cameras, as well as GY-HM790 ProHD cameras in full studio configurations. Another section of the demonstration area will be dedicated to economical camera options, including the GY-HM70 and GY-HM150 models. The booth will also feature JVC’s extensive professional monitor product lines, as well as an area dedicated to JVC’s professional Blu-ray recorders.
