HARMAN’s Studer Announces Integration of EMBER Protocol with Studer(r) Vista Consoles at NAB 2012

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – At NAB this year, HARMAN’s Studer will show how efficiently it can control newsroom playout or production automation systems with its full range of broadcast consoles, demonstrating the expanded integration of the Ember protocol into Studer Vista consoles at booth C2619 in addition to the existing inclusion in Studer’s OnAir range of consoles.

The Ember protocol provides seamless integration of Studer Vista and OnAir series consoles with 3rd-party broadcast control systems & newsroom production automation systems. Such a workflow enables broadcasters to add and expand newscasting without adding overheads in newsroom operations, and improves workflow and newsgathering ability while retaining the ability to go to manual override for breaking news.

“Supporting the networking and routing needs of broadcasters is nothing new for us at Studer,” said Katy Templeman-Holmes, Marketing Manager for Studer in the USA. “Some of the world’s largest broadcasters have trusted Studer for over a decade to manage the integrity of their network operations with the Route 3000, Route 6000, Pro-Bel and now we will further support broadcasters’ needs with the integration of Ember.”

Ember is a control protocol implementation that allows many audio console settings to be controlled over TCP/IP, in addition to the Pro-Bel SW-P-08 protocol that is supported already. An additional bonus to broadcast is Ember’s ability to support multi-connection setups, making it an excellent choice for installations requiring redundancy.
Ember connectivity allows the external equipment to transfer signal labels, and to control input channel gains, solo, mutes, plus AUX send levels and mutes, along with N-X (mix-minus) bus levels and mutes. Master channel levels and mutes can also be addressed along with Group and Aux master channels.

EMBER control is available across the range of Studer consoles, including the new compact OnAir 1500 console, so it can be used from large-scale public broadcast situations to small local stations according to budget.

EMBER will be shown with the Vista 5 series of consoles on the HARMAN Studer booth C2619 at the NAB show, in addition to the showcase of Studer’s five other new products being launched at the show. The new Vista 1 Compact will also support EMBER, in turn presenting a robust all-in-one solution for broadcasters looking to cost-effectively consolidate their studio operations.

Clear-Com Introduces New CC-300 and CC-400 Headsets at the 2012 NAB Show

New Headsets Offer Better Comfort, Improved Sound Quality and Greater Flexibility

LAS VEGAS, APRIL 12, 2012 ─ Clear-Com, a global leader in critical voice communication systems, will exhibit at the 2012 NAB Show (Booth C8008) the latest additions to its line of professional headsets, the CC-300 and CC-400. The CC-300 and CC-400 offer extra comfort, better performance and more flexibility for audio professionals who are constantly using intercoms during the long hours of production. These headsets are compatible with Clear-Com’s wide range of wired and wireless intercoms.

Personalized for Comfortable Fit
Wearing headsets day in and day out while communicating with other team members over the intercom can easily and quickly exhaust broadcast operators. The new Clear-Com CC-300 single-ear headset and CC-400 double-ear headset were designed to reduce fatigue and accommodate individual preferences by offering a clear and comfortable audio experience.

The CC-300 and CC-400 headsets’ microphone booms can be rotated 300 degrees, allowing the microphone to be worn on the right or left side of the head. Users can also make the headsets larger or smaller by using the slide adjustments on either side of the headband. In addition, the enclosed headphones have very soft padding and a slight rotation to provide a better fit for users.

Balanced for High Performance
The CC-300 and CC-400 headsets are equipped with hyper-cardioid dynamic microphones and high ambient noise attenuation headphones that deliver balanced audio performance to the user. The acoustic isolation capability significantly reduces external background noise and with a clear audio profile, including up to 20 kHz frequency response, the new headsets are made for professionals who demand high quality sound.

Flexibility for Operational Convenience
The CC-300 and CC-400 headset microphones can be turned on and off by moving the microphone boom. Users need only to pull the boom gently downwards to turn on the microphone and push the boom gently upwards to turn it off, in effect giving the users a quick and simple mute to their intercom system.

Interchangeable cabling is another major benefit of the CC-300 and CC-400 headsets. Both headsets come with a standard four-pin female connector, but users can easily change the cable and connector at the base of the headset by using a Phillips screwdriver in order to accommodate different connector types. The same process can be used to repair and replace a damaged cable on the fly.

“Busy production staff members need a headset that they can slip on and immediately feel the difference in fit and performance,” says Stephen Sandford, Product Manager, Clear-Com. “The Clear-Com CC-300 and CC-400 deliver by providing long-lasting comfort and high-quality audio, and can be used in conjunction with virtually all of our intercom solutions.”

Designed for portable applications in harsh environments, the new Gepco® Brand TactiFlex™ Flexible Ruggedized Fiber Optic Cables are tough and lightweight, yet more flexible than standard ruggedized fiber cables on the market. Making their first appearance at NAB, Gepco® Brand RunONE™ Powered Cables combine audio and power, along with optional data, under a single durable, yet flexible jacket. With multiple uses for corporations, DJs, lighting rigs and tours, RunONE allows the user to pull a single cable in place of multiple cables, providing a portable and neat solution that saves time and hassle. Each RunONE cable combines one channel of power with two, eight or 12 channels of 110 Ohm balanced audio for line level, mic level or digital AES audio signals and can be used with self-powered speakers or in DMX lighting control. Using real-time analytical software, Gepco will demonstrate the superior characteristics of Gepco’s RunONE cables by comparing them to similar products. The software will measure handling noise, interference and frequency performance for differences you can not only hear, but see.

“We’re pleased to not only be able to show off some new products this year at NAB, but also new tools that will improve the customer experience,” said Joe Zajac, Sales and Applications Engineer for Gepco® Brand Products.

Optical Devices Division of FUJIFILM to Introduce Long HD Field Lens with Attractive Price Point at NAB 2012

XA77x9.5 features OS-TECH image stabilization, FIND diagnostic system, 16-bit encoding, dust-proof and anti-fogging technology, macro shooting, and remote control

Wayne, N.J., April 11, 2012 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Optical Devices Division announced that it will introduce the XA77x9.5 HDTV field lens during the NAB 2012 convention, which runs from April 14th-19th in the Las Vegas Convention Center (Booth #C7525). The XA77x9.5 is well suited for use within mobile trucks, at stadiums, sporting events, arenas, larger houses of worship – anywhere a long lens would be beneficial in capturing detail and close up images from far distances.

“This is a lens that makes high-quality, long-distance shooting possible for a much wider range of customers,” said Thom Calabro, Director, Marketing and Product Development, FUJIFILM North America Corporation, Optical Devices Division. “And it comes standard with several key features that ensure rock solid performance.”

Among them, the XA77x9.5 features the company’s patented OS TECH image stabilization. OS-TECH contains sensors that detect the slightest movement caused by vibration. A correction signal is applied to the optical system, which helps to maintain a stable image when shooting from an unstable platform, or in windy conditions.

The lens’ advanced diagnostic FIND (Focused Intelligent Network Diagnosis) system aids in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting by evaluating lens electronic and mechanical parameters.

The XA77x9.5 also incorporates FUJINON’s dustproof and anti-fogging technology. All FUJINON field lenses have a fixed front element that reduces dust contamination and serves as a protection for the front focus group. A concealed compartment that contains a drying agent reduces fogging in internal lens components due to humidity. All of this helps in maintaining long-term reliability and performance.

And 16-bit optical encoding output provides high positioning accuracy in virtual environments. An advanced back focus system on the XA77x9.5 allows macro shooting from as close as 2.7m from the subject. With an optional controller, the advanced back focus provides enhanced production features. Of course, this HD field lens is compatible with all existing FUJINON EFP controllers, and full remote control via RS-232 is standard.
