BHV Broadcast to Show Seriously Expanded Video Ghost Series at NAB 2014

Video Phantom Power System to Offer HDMI Monitoring, a Rack-Mount Version, and a Digital Signage Solution

Owslebury, UK – BHV Broadcast, manufacturer of compact, cost-effective equipment for live and post-production will show a seriously expanded Video Ghost series at NAB2014, Booth C 3841.

• Video Ghost – Sleek, sexy and affordable, Video Ghost lets you run power and serial digital (SD/HD/3G) video over a single coaxial cable. Video Ghost now offers enhanced cable length performance up to 200m from the camera or monitor and a maximum power output of 65W (both ratings may depend on signal format and application). Multi-layer protection circuitry prevents inadvertent damage caused by mis-connection. This powerful alternative to batteries is especially relevant for installing cameras or monitors where the supply of power is difficult or hazardous, such as gantries, stage sets, sports arenas and amphitheatres.

NEW at NAB – Ghost now provides optional HDMI monitoring of SD/HD/3G video feeds.

• GhostRack – On show for the first time! The rack-mounted version of BHV’s friendly spirit offers 4 channels of Video Ghost Power Over Coax in a 2RU x 19″ rack case with integral power supply and front panel monitoring. Ideal for mounting in an OB and powering four remote monitors or cameras over the video cables!

• Video Ghost is being introduced as a low-cost and reliable power source for Digital Signage applications. The ‘fit-and-forget’ system provides an innovative and unique way to get power to a monitor on a stage floor or in an arena roof, and eliminates the need for local mains power for monitors.

“Video Ghost is ideal for short-term or permanent applications that utilise monitors for digital signage such as entertainment venues, retail establishments and houses of worship,” explained Julian Hiorns, BHV Broadcast’s managing director. “Operational benefits include portability and rapid deployment – important features for mobile productions and difficult locations where monitoring is required, and the flexibility to send or receive video signals and DC power wherever and whenever the need arises.”

BHV Broadcast’s Syntax Up-Converter Series Adds Closed Captions Capability

First US Demonstrations of Syntax Bridge Slated for NAB 2014 in Booth C3841

Owslebury, UK – BHV Broadcast, manufacturer of award-winning rate-converters, up-converters and the innovative coax-powering solution Video Ghost, will introduce the US market to Syntax Bridge at NAB 2014. The newest member of the Syntax up-converter series provides closed captions capability via integration with Microvideo’s HDB 300 data management system. The first US demonstrations are slated to be held in Booth C3841 at the LVCC.

Syntax Bridge, recipient of TV Technology’s IBC 2013 STAR award, was developed in response to the growing global requirement for closed captions as part of the retention of metadata through the broadcast chain. Now broadcasters and producers can enjoy the benefit of Syntax’s unrivalled quality HD up-conversion with closed captions. BHV’s award-winning Syntax up-scaler integration with Microvideo’s HDB 300 (which in itself provides simultaneous data management of control signals, trans-coding, decoding, bridging and copying) will allow broadcasters to utilize the artefact-free performance of the Syntax in distribution and production chains with massive metadata handling capability.

BHV Broadcast’s managing director, Julian Hiorns, commented “The combination of BHV’s extraordinary Syntax up-converter combined with Microvideo’s HDB 300 provides an unparalleled solution to the latest closed caption compliance requirements. We’re delighted to demonstrate this exciting new technology at NAB and make it available in the Americas.”

BHV’s Syntax series uses Super-Resolution Bandlet technology, a natural successor to motion compensation, for virtually transparent conversions.

ISE Line-up To Feature Presentation by FSR’s Jon Melchin

Melchin to Share Expert Insight on Benefits of Building Information Modeling

Woodland Park, NJ – Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), the world’s best attended tradeshow for the professional AV and electronic systems industry, will feature a comprehensive educational agenda including a presentation by Jon Melchin, FSR Inc.’s Director of Architectural Development. Melchin will offer an expert look into the benefits of Building Information Modeling (BIM) – a 3D design, modeling and simulation technology that has changed the way that architecture is practiced. The presentation is scheduled for 11:30 – 12:30 on Wednesday, 5 February – day 2 of ISE, in Room D204 of the RAI. ISE, a joint venture between InfoComm International and CEDIA, will take place from 4 – 6 February at the RAI in Amsterdam.

Based on extensive experience in the architectural industry, Melchin will impart knowledge and share his views that BIM eclipses the 3D representation of the physical products and functional characteristics of a structure to provide a shared knowledge resource for everyone involved in the design process. The session’s appeal extends to architects as well as interior designers, engineers, contractors, facility owners, AV consultants and system integrators. Discussions will illustrate the opportunity for AV professionals to become involved on the ground level of a project, and explore an actual project highlighting benefits of BIM.

“The ‘I’ in BIM should stand for ‘Involvement’,” said Melchin. “This presentation will invite the members of the audience to participate in a discussion regarding all the advantages of BIM and all the people that can benefit from its implementation. I am delighted to bring my experience to a diverse group of international professionals at ISE!”

Melchin, an accomplished speaker and a Passport Provider with the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System (AIA-CES), works nationally with the architectural and design community to facilitate the specification of FSR products. Melchin has authored numerous articles that have been published in international trade publications targeting the construction and audiovisual industries, and has over 12 years of experience in the AV business.

FSR will exhibit at ISE in Hall 1, Stand N3. Further information regarding all FSR products can be found at: www.fsrinc.com.

FSR’s GV Expo / GovComm13 Exhibition Plans Offer Something for Everyone

Government Attendees Get First-Hand Look at Company’s Rugged Lines of HDMI Cables, Fire Resistant Boxes, Installation Tools and a Multi-User Collaboration System

Washington, DC – FSR, leading manufacturer of a wide variety of products for the audio/video, education, hospitality, government, and religious markets, will command an audience at this year’s co-located Government Video Expo / GovComm13 shows in Washington, DC (Booth 522). This year, attendees in the government and military fields will get a first-hand look at the company’s new Digital Ribbon mega-bandwidth HDMI cables, FRK Fire-Resistant Floor Box System, DR-Sock Cable Pulling Tool and HuddleVU multi-user collaboration system.

“We are excited to bring our newly expanded and varied lines of products to the government and military market at this year’s GV Expo / GovComm13 co-located shows,” said FSR president Jan Sandri. “Our industry award-winning products, such as our Digital Ribbon Cables that were singled-out earlier this year at InfoComm 2013, and our other product families are must-haves for these professionals working in the broadcast, Pro AV and installation markets. We look forward to showcasing our reliable and diverse lines and new technology solutions to this important and ever growing market.”

Based upon a proprietary composite technology, FSR’s Digital Ribbon Cables offer users the capacity to carry 1080p and 4k x 2k HDMI signals up to 325 feet, nearly twice that of other “extended” solutions, with crystal clear accuracy. The product’s ultra-simple, fast installation (just pull and plug), and money-saving ability to operate without transmitters or receivers add to its appeal.

The company’s new FRK Fire-Resistant Floor Box System expands the versatility of its floor box line by providing enhanced, fire-resistant versions of its existing products. FRK kits are UL listed and comply with UL 263 Fire Resistance Ratings. Systems are available in a number of configurations, available online at the company’s website.

FSR’s new DR-SOCK is a handy and affordable cable-pulling tool designed to simplify and accelerate every installation requiring cables and connectors. Intended for every installer’s toolbox, DR-SOCK is pre-assembled, easily accessible in frustration-proof packaging, and re-useable. It protects cables and connectors from being damaged by taking the stress off the connection points while pulling through a conduit. The design opens up to 1.25 inches, and features brightly colored sleeve tips to enable easy identification, and a steel ring to allow quick and positive attachment of a pull snake. DR-SOCK can be used to safely pull FSR’s new Digital Ribbon Cables as well as others with connector shells.

The HuddleVU collaboration system allows for multiple users to share and view their laptops, tablets, and smart phone screens on a main display. Unlike conventional presentation systems, anyone participating can be a presenter or an audience member at any given time at the push of a button. LED’s indicate which user is currently live and when the system is busy.

As always, all FSR products are made of durable materials in the USA.

FSR’s T6 FLEX Control Named Winner in 2013 WFX New Product Facility Awards

Woodland Park, NJ – FSR is proud to announce that its T6 FLEX control unit, ideally suited for churches with congregations of varying sizes, has been named “Most Innovative Green Product” in the 2013 WFX New Product Facility Awards. Winners were revealed earlier this month in Dallas during the Worship Facilities Conferences & Expo (WFX).

FSR’s small, powerful, affordable T6 FLEX merges a simple touch screen control system with an elegant table box for fingertip room control. The fully-featured unit controls a full-range of AV equipment from an attractive, convenient housing making it perfect for classrooms, children’s ministry areas and other rooms in worship facilities.

“FSR is honored that our T6 FLEX has received this prestigious WFX Award from Worship Facilities Magazine, Worship Facilities Designer Magazine and Church Production Magazine. FSR wanted to design a compact unit that would deliver outstanding performance and yet also meet the needs of facilities that may be facing budget constraints. We are truly pleased that the very community in which we designed this product has recognized our efforts,” explained Jan Sandri, FSR president.

Encased in an elegant and convenient housing at an appealing price point, the T6 FLEX allows Houses of Worship control over a variety of AV equipment, including projectors, displays and playback devices as well as screens and shades without the aid of an IR remote. It can serve larger installations as an auxiliary controller for the seamless switcher, the control point for remote pan / tilt / zoom cameras and much more. The system’s vast number of features and its ability to control a full-range of AV gear also makes it ideal for classrooms, student, young adult and children’s ministry areas, family viewing rooms and other AV equipped worship and meeting facilities.

The control system’s touch screen is housed in the hinged top of a T6 Series table box. When closed, the T6 FLEX presents an elegant and stylish appearance and the control system is out of sight. When open, the touch screen is easily accessible as are the interior compartments that can be populated with a variety of AC, audio, video and data connector plates available from FSR.

Non-technical volunteers can operate the T6 FLEX’s user-friendly touch screen with confidence and ease. Should they need assistance, AV personnel can remotely control the system using Flex Remote, a software application available for Windows®, Windows8®; Window RT®; Windows Phone®; Android® tablets and phone; iPad® and iPhone®.

The T6 FLEX installations throughout the campus can be centrally monitored using Flex Manager, a Windows based application that tracks the current status of each T6 FLEX and provides usage information, projector lamp life monitoring, remote control and advanced scheduling that saves energy by making sure that equipment is off when not in use.

The T6 FLEX features four serial ports, four IR ports (each able to control up to four devices), four GPIO ports, an IP port, built-in clock/calendar with scheduler, multi command scripting, conditionality and Power over Ethernet.

The 2013 WFX Awards are presented by Worship Facilities Magazine, Worship Facilities Designer Magazine and Church Production Magazine and are the leading annual national awards program recognizing innovative new facility products for the church market, church building design and management and innovative new technology products for the church market. BHV Broadcast’s Syntax Bridge Wins “STAR” Award From Editors of TV Technology Europe

AMSTERDAM — Syntax Bridge, conceived and manufactured by BHV Broadcast and incorporating Microvideo’s powerful metadata processing engine, is the recipient of a 2013 STAR (Superior Technology Award Recipient) Award given by the editorial staff of TV Technology Europe magazine at the 2013 IBC convention.

The STAR is designed to celebrate and showcase technological innovations available to the broadcast industry. TV Technology Europe’s editor reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then chose 25 winners.

“STAR awards are given to interesting new products that help a user save money or accomplish a task in an easier way,” said Mark Hallinger, Editor of TV Technology Europe. “This year in particular we also looked for smaller incremental improvements in established products, as these improvements generally reflect a manufacturer responding to customer input, a laudable thing.”

Syntax Bridge, the result of integrating BHV’s award-winning Syntax up-scaler with Microvideo’s well-proven HDB-300 VANC/VBI converter, was brought to market to address the ever-growing requirement for closed captions as part of the retention of metadata through the broadcast chain. Now broadcasters and facilities managers can enjoy Syntax’s unrivalled upscaling quality with full control of closed captions and other VBI data, benefitting from BHV’s artefact-free up-conversion and Microvideo’s comprehensive metadata processing in one compact and cost-effective package.

BHV Broadcast’s managing director, Julian Hiorns, stated “We are delighted to add another prestigious STAR award to our collection. Syntax Bridge is a unique collaboration of outstanding technologies from two companies that understand the need for superior artefact-free HD up-conversion with sub-titling capabilities. We are honoured that the editors of TV Technology Europe recognised its ability to fill a serious void in the industry and delighted to be working with Microvideo on this project.”

Added Hallinger, “The products selected help advance the industry—-some were chosen because of technical novelty or innovation, some because they filled an important gap in the production or transmission chain, and some because they were just cool products.”
