Cobalt Digital Supports European Expansion With Presence at BVE 2013

BVE 2013 (Digi-Box.co.uk) Stand F12

FULL COMPLEMENT OF PRODUCTS WILL BE DEMONSTRATED ON DIGI-BOX.CO.UK STAND

Urbana, IL – Cobalt Digital’s (www.CobaltDigital.com) European expansion is on the fast-track as the manufacturer reveals plans to demonstrate its extensive range of award-winning 3G/HD/SD-SDI conversion gear at BVE 2013 in London on 26-28 February. Chris Shaw, executive vice president of sales & marketing, announced that the Company will have its latest loudness processing innovations alongside their new line of throw down boxes, established terminal gear, and control panels in Stand F12, a space shared with Digi-Box.co.uk, a well known and established UK-based master distributor.

“With the recent appointment of Digi-Box as Cobalt Digital’s master distributor for the UK and Southern Ireland, it is vital that we support their efforts in this region,” stated Shaw. “BVE provides an ideal launching pad for this new partnership and offers the opportunity to demonstrate the latest additions to our product line.”

Cobalt’s timely loudness processing solutions will take center stage at BVE. Using LINEAR ACOUSTIC® Aeromax™ technology, the multi-award-winning LMNTS™ (Loudness Management for n-Transport Streams), represents a quantum leap in multi-stream loudness processing by offering an economic, consistent solution that’s easy to integrate. LMNTS performs automatic loudness processing across many transport streams making it ideal for MVPDs and MSOs where a large number of diverse programming sources must be simultaneously controlled.

Cobalt’s SpotCheck™, their audio loudness measurement and recorded data logging system, takes the guesswork out of loudness measurement and logging, and facilitates EBU R128 and CALM compliance. SpotCheck monitors an IP, ASI, or a transmitted over-the-air MPEG stream at the transmit (emission) encode point, and provides easy-to-use, convenient, long-term access to loudness records for all programming initiated from a broadcasting facility.

Also new is Cobalt’s Blue Box Group, a series of throw down boxes providing HDMI to SDI, SDI to HDMI, analogue to digital, and digital to analogue conversion with audio embedding/de-embedding.

Cobalt will additionally feature its widely-popular FUSION3G® line of terminal gear that offers extensive signal processing options including up/down/cross conversion, loudness processing, up-mixing, and Dolby® transcoding; the COMPASS® colour correction card with OGCP-9000/CC remote control panel; the 9223 MPEG-4 Encoder card; OGCP-9000 and WinOGCP remote control panels for control and monitoring of FUSION3G and COMPASS cards with loudness metering and monitoring options; and much more!!!

FSR Rallies Behind Home State to Provide Relief for New Jersey Storm Victims

Woodland Park, NJ– FSR, a Passaic County-based manufacturer, has rallied behind fellow New Jerseyans in the wake of Sandy to provide relief for the superstorm’s victims.

Accompanied by a team of FSR volunteers, company president, Jan Sandri arrived at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Highlands, NJ on Friday, November 9 in vehicles packed with food, paper products, cleaning supplies, clothing and checks.

“Highlands is a small town adjacent to Sandy Hook with a permanent population of 5,000,” said Sandri. “The homes are primary residences, not vacation houses. The town was hit with 13.5’ of water, even before the storm surge came through. These people are our neighbors and have lost so much. It’s a very good feeling to be lending a helping hand.”

Sandri noted that Church volunteers helped unload the supplies as dozens of other cars lined up to drop off diapers, food and other urgently needed products.

“While outside I noticed a truck from Florida Power and Light (FPL) and questioned the driver about his trip,” continued Sandri. “He explained that he was from Texas but was using a FPL vehicle because his own hadn’t arrived yet. It’s wonderful to see the cooperation and help pouring into New Jersey.”

All donations were made in the name of FSR, the Company’s employees, customers and business associates.

WORXAUDIO TECHNOLOGIES LOUDSPEAKERS DEPLOYED AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF LENOIR

**** Photo: Buck Roberts ****

Lenoir NC – October 2012 … Recognizing that audio and video capabilities are well-entrenched in contemporary worship services, First Baptist Church of Lenoir decided the time had come to upgrade their sanctuary’s A/V facilities. While services are presently traditional in nature, church management wanted the new A/V system to have the versatility to handle a wide range of services and, for that matter, the occasional music program. Their previous sound reinforcement system suffered from poor speech intelligibility, phasing issues, and inconsistent dispersion. Determined to correct the situation, the church ultimately deployed a new sound system drawn from the catalog of Greensboro, NC-based WorxAudio Technologies. more

Another “STAR” Follows Cobalt Digital Home From IBC

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – Cobalt Digital has added another award to its growing collection of honours. The manufacturer of 3G/HD/SD-SDI conversion gear took home its tenth STAR award (Superior Technology Award Recipient) from the editorial staff of TV Technology Europe magazine at IBC 2012; this time for its HPF-9000 High-Power 20-Slot Frame.

The STAR Award is designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the broadcast industry. Mark Hallinger, TV Technology Europe’s editor, reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then chose 27 winners.

“STAR awards are given to interesting new products that help a user save money or accomplish a task in an easier way,” said Hallinger. “The products selected help advance the industry–some were chosen because of technical novelty or innovation, some because they filled an important gap in the production or transmission chain, and some because they were just cool products.”

Cobalt’s HPF-9000 fits all the criteria! The 2RU high-density modular frame offers a significant 360-Watts of net (user) available power in a high-capacity 20-slot format. The HPF-9000 can accommodate two front loaded hot swappable PSU-9000 power supply modules with separate power cords for power redundancy to ensure 24/7 operation, features independent cooling fans and status LEDs, and provides an easily accessible front–mounted power switch. Rear modules offer a broad selection of interfaces such as BNC, twisted pair audio, and fiber for maximum flexibility. The unit features remote control and monitoring via Ethernet.

“We are delighted to add another STAR award to our Trophy Room,” exclaimed Chris Shaw, Cobalt’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “The HPF-9000 is a fabulous tool, providing compatibility with both the Cobalt 9900 series Fusion3g cards as well as the 9000 series COMPASS cards. It features the same rear modules as the 8321 frame allowing a seamless transition from one to the other, and provides numerous input/output combinations to suit any requirements including mixed interfaces such as BNC, and balanced analog audio.”

BHV Broadcast’s Award-Winning IBC Line Up Includes Battery Replacement System, Wireless On-Air Indicator, Format Convertors & Miniature Switcher

VISIT BHV BROADCAST AT IBC

Owslebury, UK – BHV Broadcast, manufacturer of compact, cost-effective equipment for live and post-production, will return to IBC 2012 with a complement of products that have been acknowledged with awards for innovation. The Company will show an upgraded model of its Video Ghost phantom power system, an enhanced version of the TallyHo! wireless on-air indicator for vision switchers, the 3-input Callisto Micro miniature SDI switcher, the Proteus rate converter, and Syntax up converter.

Video Ghost
Spirits soar with BHV Broadcast’s Video Ghost! Developed as a low-cost, reliable alternative to traditional batteries, Video Ghost brings phantom power to the digital video world! The unit – recipient of TV Technology’s Mario Award AND Broadcast Engineering’s Pick Hit – now provides a hefty 65 watts of power at 12V for camera head-ends and remote monitors using the existing serial digital video coaxial cable. Equally at home with SD or HD signals, it can also be used to power composite to SDI converters at the camera, avoiding significant signal degradation suffered by composite video over distances.

New for IBC – Video Ghost is now available for camera attachment using the V-lock universal mounting system.

Syntax Up/Cross/Down-Converter – New Price Point!
Syntax will be at the show sporting the same broadcast quality specifications in Syntax Essence, a low-cost model. The economical version of the TV Technology STAR award-winner is BHV’s SDI up/cross/down-converter based on advanced Super-Resolution Bandlet Technology. The new model provides the same performance advantages of motion-compensated processing as its predecessor without the associated disadvantages of high cost and occasionally severe artefacts.

TallyHo! Wireless tally indication system
BHV Broadcast will also demonstrate an enhanced version of TallyHo!, a wireless tally indicator system that offers camera operators reliable remote on-air indication in the field. This unique design is comprised of a base station with direct interface to the local vision mixer and a set of camera hot-shoe mounted receiver modules. TallyHo! – recipient of IBC’s “What caught my eye” – gives the camera operator and, crucially, the camera subject, a highly visible indication of on-air status. TallyHo! operates seamlessly with any vision mixer (such as Sony Anycast) that has tally GPI outputs, but its operational potential is realised to the full when used with any of BHV Broadcast’s Callisto vision mixers.

“TallyHo! provides a viable method of transmitting real-time tally information,” explains Julian Hiorns, managing director of BHV Broadcast. “It stands alone in its ability to furnish wireless feedback to cameras; essential information that every operator in the field needs, but couldn’t access economically prior to TallyHo!”

Callisto Micro miniature SDI switcher
The three-input Callisto Micro SDI mixer is a broadcast specification (SMPTE-259M) 270Mbit video switcher designed to fit into the smallest spaces. Callisto can handle fully asynchronous (unlocked) SDI inputs environment and offers remote control and broadside bus switching, so can double as a miniature reclocking matrix.

Proteus Multi-Format/Multi-Purpose Converter
The award-winning Proteus multi-format, multi-purpose, motion-adaptive standards converter will be shown in both rack-mount and portable versions. The fully-featured broadcast specification converter features 10-bit SDI, analogue video and audio I/O, an advanced standards conversion algorithm, comprehensive audio facilities and ARC. Based on an advanced Motion Adaptive Standards Converter, Proteus offers full format conversion, frame synchronizing, TBC, video and audio Proc Amps, as well as bi-directional standards (rate) conversion. Proteus addresses lip-sync errors with variable audio delay (up to 10 seconds) featuring both tracking and block delay.

Cobalt Digital to Offer Economical Single Card Dual-Channel Timecode Burn-In Solution

Visit Cobalt at IBC Stand 10.B27

FLEXIBLE SOLUTION TO DEBUT AT IBC

Urbana, IL – Cobalt Digital (http://www.cobaltdigital.com), manufacturer of award-winning 3G/HD/SD-SDI conversion gear for broadcast environments, has revealed plans to debut its 3G/HD/SD-SDI Dual-Channel Timecode Burn-In Inserter at IBC 2012. Chris Shaw, Cobalt’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, announced today from company headquarters in Urbana, IL that the 9392 single-card solution will be at IBC in Stand 10.B27 alongside new and groundbreaking technologies.

The 3G/HD/SD-SDI compatible 9392 allows individual RS-485 LTC inputs to be burned onto two independent SDI video streams, and up to 16 characters of static text onto program video. Setup and operation are easily achieved via software control GUI and Cobalt’s award-winning OGCP-9000 remote control panel. Program video can be selected and replaced either manually per-channel, or via an independent failover flat-field function upon loss of input. The generated flat field can be timed to match input format, or be set to provide any of several outputs. Timecode burn-in and text can be sized and positioned anywhere in the active video area using easy-to-use positioning controls.

In addition, the 9392 includes a 3×4 SDI output crosspoint, with SDI out A (channel A), SDI out B (channel B), or reclocked SDI In A routable to up to 4 SDI outputs. A 9391 single channel unit is also available.

Chris Shaw, evp of sales & marketing stated, “Cobalt’s product line is comprised of practical and economical solutions developed in response to market demand, and more specifically, our customers’ requirements. They tell us what they need – and want – to get the job done, and we deliver reliable products that address their challenges efficiently at a reasonable price point.

“The 9392 is yet another example. We’ve had numerous requests for a card-based dual channel timecode inserter from OB companies, studios, and post-production facilities and are happy to launch a module to suit their exact requirements,” concluded Shaw.

At IBC, Cobalt will also present a complement of ground-breaking products including the multi-award-winning LMNTS(tm), an exciting breakthrough in comprehensive transport-based loudness processing; SpotCheck(tm), an innovative transport stream compliance monitor; the new Blue Box Group(tm) series of throw down conversion modules, a new range of MADI cards including Embedder/De-embedder (with 192 x 192 crosspoint switch) and MADI DA, and both physical (OGCP-9000 and OGCP-9000/CC optimised for colour correction) and virtual remote control panels.
