Christie Continues To Lead The Way In Visual Display System Education For Simulation

Christie will host the fourth SIM University training forum May 7-8 at the University of Central Florida

Christie®, a leader in simulation projection display solutions, today announced that it is hosting the fourth SIM University training forum, a free educational event taking place May 7-8 dedicated to the world of visual display requirements for the simulation industry at the Institute for Simulation and Training at the University of Central Florida.

Zoran Veselic, vice president of Christie’s Visual Environments, commented: “The capabilities and requirements of visual displays in the simulation industry are not only complex, but continuously advancing. Bringing together experts and participants in this field by way of an educational forum enables personnel such as visual, systems or design engineers and program managers to gain a more in-depth understanding of system parameters and metrics, for instance, and be better equipped to specify technology that will successfully meet system requirements. The event also expands our own knowledge of industry needs and priorities so that we can adapt and create new solutions for our customers.”

Based on participants’ feedback and positive responses, Christie will introduce a new format, which extends the event to one-and-a-half days. The first part is a half day that is dedicated to understanding the basics of display technology and is designed for those with entry-level experience in visual display systems for simulation or those interested in a refresher on display technology. Day two is focused on intermediate and advanced subject matter content or for anyone who attends the half-day session the day prior.

Joining Christie’s engineers and technical staff in presenting at SIM University are other leading organizations in the field of visual technology displays for simulation including Flight Safety International, a world-leading aviation training company, RealTime Immersive, Inc. a simulation and serious games studio established to support CryENGINE® licensees in the serious game and simulation market space and Thinklogical LLC, a global manufacturer of secure fiber optic video and KVM routing and extension systems.

Whether participants are visual, systems, or product design engineers, program managers or technical specialists in the simulation industry, they will benefit from this one or two-day session that includes technical presentations designed to increase one’s knowledge of various visual display requirements: color and latency, warping, night vision goggle stimulation principles and practices, and collimation, field of view and viewing volume in simulators, to name a few.

Specialists in simulation and training interested in learning more or signing up for the next SIM University can email the SIM University team.

Visual Surveillance Manufacturer IC Realtime Opens Doors for Integrators to Tap Many Vertical Markets via Verizon 4G LTE Network

Video Surveillance Products Leader IC Realtime Joins Verizon Partner Program

Joint national program opens doors for integrators to tap vertical markets by deploying
custom-tailored HD video surveillance systems transmitted via Verizon Wireless; represents great opportunities for integrators to create recurring monthly revenues

Pompano Beach, FL – May 1, 2013 – IC Realtime, a global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced visual surveillance solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, governmental and educational channels, today announced that it has joined the Verizon Partner program. The move is the first initiative by IC Realtime’s M2M (Machine-to-Machine) Advisors Group, a newly-formed division operating from within its Pompano Beach, Florida headquarters.

Under the program IC Realtime and Verizon Wireless Connected Technologies sales teams will work with qualified IC Realtime integration companies (classified by IC Realtime as its M2M Master Integrators) to develop and deploy custom-tailored HD video surveillance solutions via the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.

According to IC Realtime’s M2M Advisor Group President Adam Cohen, the types of applications span residential, commercial and industrial to local, state and federal branches of government.

”The program helps integrators branch-out into emerging vertical markets such as remote autonomous solar-powered systems; video over cellular; cloud-based HD-video and data storage; remote M2M command and control, and internet and video redundancy,” says Cohen. “These powerful new offerings will allow them to sell services and build recurring monthly revenue streams previously deemed unobtainable or perhaps unforeseen.”

To help integrators seize the wide range of opportunities that exist, IC Realtime will aggregate talent from its consortium of integration companies, training them in Megapixel IP video over cellular networks, command and control over remote locations, autonomous solar systems, and wireless technology.

“Such a network of skilled connected technology experts can assist the business interests of manufacturers, service providers, integrators, and consumers of electronic physical security equipment,” adds Cohen. “We believe that our pool of M2M Master Integrators will be the catalyst for a global paradigm shift in how security is procured, installed and serviced.”

Useful for the venture will be Video iVAULT™, an M2M cloud-based platform that IC Realtime created to provide live video on demand, without the need for special software or complicated hardware solutions. This platform allows wireless cameras and recorders to send event video and alerts to the IC Realtime Cloud to be securely stored long-term via wireless networks. Additionally, this solution further reduces costs by limiting the amount of video storage devices needed to be deployed onsite.

IC Realtime has also created a failover option for its DVR / NVR systems solutions to monitor in real time, grant access, communicate, and secure environments via the Verizon network. This redundancy feature provides crucial backup when power and internet lines go down. According to Cohen, the failover option is yet another example of previously untapped revenue source for integrators.

Prism Sound Announces New Mic To Monitor Tour For 2013

Prism Sound’s popular Mic to Monitor educational tour is back with new dates and new venues confirmed to 2013.

Targeted primarily at music production students, hobbyists and professionals, Mic to Monitor aims to dispel the many myths surrounding the recording process. Each seminar will feature presentations from recording professionals who will answer audience questions on recording techniques. There will also be the opportunity to demo equipment and win recording equipment from Prism Sound and SADiE – and from PMC and DPA Microphones, which are supporting the tour.

Mic to Monitor 2013 begins on April 23rd at Pulse College, Windmill Lane Studios, Dublin. During May and June it will visit the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol; Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge; SAE, Glasgow; Alchemea College, London; LIPA, Liverpool; Futureworks, Manchester and City University, Birmingham.

Acclaimed mastering engineer Aidan Foley (Foo Fighters, Van Morrison, U2) will speak at the first session in Dublin, where he will reveal the tricks and techniques he used on the hugely successful Dead Can Dance album, Anastasis – a European No.1 hit that achieved over 250,000 in sales last year. Aidan will discuss his approach to the Vinyl, CD and other digital releases during the project and the challenges he had to overcome in and out of the studio.

Other confirmed speakers include Simon Little (Jessie Jay, Quantic), Jake Gosling, (Ed Sheeran, Paloma Faith, One Direction) and Award-winning mastering engineer Many Parnell, whose recent projects include Bjork, Feist and Frightened Rabbit.

Graham Boswell, Prism Sound’s Sales Director, says: “As a company, Prism Sound is dedicated to providing training initiatives to the producers and engineers of tomorrow. Music recording students need the opportunity to learn skills that are applicable to the industries in which they will ultimately work. They also need to know about the equipment they will regularly come into contact with. These seminars are all taking place at educational establishments that offer courses in music recording and broadcast engineering because we recognise that this is where the producers and engineers of the future are currently getting their grounding. The aim is to give them – and any industry professional who wants to brush up on their skills – the chance to discuss new techniques, demo cutting-edge equipment and software and learn first-hand from the experiences of our guest speakers.”

Full details of dates, venues and guest speakers will be posted on the Prism Sound website. Anyone wishing to attend Mic to Monitor can do so by registering their interest online at www.prismsound.com.

SurgeX International Commissions Global AC Power and Grounding White Paper

Audio Systems Group’s Jim Brown authors essential guide for consultants and integrators

BLUE BELL, Pennsylvania — SurgeX International, the industry leading manufacturer of AC power distribution and protection products for the global marketplace, announces the free availability of a new white paper, Power and Grounding for Audio and Video Systems: A White Paper for the Real World – International Edition.

Authored by Jim Brown of Chicago’s Audio Systems Group, Inc., the 43-page document was commissioned by SurgeX International to serve consultants and IT/AV system integrators as a core guide on the proper implementation of 120/230-volt AC power platforms with correct connection, distribution and grounding practices. An indispensable resource for anyone involved in complex system design and integration, the document has been published for complimentary distribution on the SurgeX International website at www.surgexinternational.com/pdf/SurgeX-Power-Ground-EU.pdf.

“The implementation of proper AC power and grounding practices for integrated systems is commonly overlooked,” says SurgeX International Director of Engineering Andy Benton. “So we asked Jim Brown to help enlighten our consultant and integrator base with a definitive white paper on the subject. There are only a handful of IT/AV consultants on the planet that understand these issues at the level that Jim does, and his course at InfoComm has become a requisite for professionals looking to secure CTS status and beyond.”

Brown, himself, adds, “I’m very pleased that SurgeX International saw a need for a global AC power and grounding white paper and commissioned our consulting group to write this document. To me, this demonstrates their commitment to the industry well beyond simply selling power protection and will ultimately help customers design trouble-free AC power platforms for complex integrated systems.”

SurgeX International, based in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, USA, has been providing patented AC power protection and distribution products to the professional IT/AV, industrial, education, government and military markets for over 18 years. SurgeX International is a member of the IAG family of products.
