Soundcraft Si3 Console To The Rescue At Mapleview Community Church

Looking to provide tremendous versatility in a cost-effective manner, systems integrator AV Communications recently installed a Soundcraft Si3 console as the centerpiece for its audio system design at the new Mapleview Community Church in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.

Housed in a former sports arena, Mapleview Community Church currently seats up to 900 people, and is part of a much larger campus that eventually will include sports facilities, a daycare center and other recreational areas. In addition to the requirements for customary SPL, dynamics, and Percentage of Articulation Loss of Consonants, there were two requirements for this installation: It needed to fit within the designated budget and it needed to include a digital console. Scharff Weisberg helped the iconic Guggenheim Museum celebrate its 50th anniversary by providing support for several key events, including artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s “Levels of Nothingness.”

Part of the museum’s Works & Process series, the commissioned performance installation was inspired by Kandinsky’s opera, The Yellow Sound. In “Levels of Nothingness,” the pitch, rhythm and content of the spoken word provides the control mechanism for an interactive light performance using moving light fixtures normally found on a rock concert stage. Scharff Weisberg supplied 40 VARI*LITE VL3000 spots for the 35-minute show which enjoyed a limited run in the Peter B. Lewis Theater. (more…)

Grand Opening Celebration Draws Hundreds of Eager Attendees

ROCKLEIGH, NJ, October 28, 2009 — Tuesday, October 20th was a spectacular autumn day in Rockleigh, NJ, the perfect setting for the festive and inspiring celebration of the new, state-of-the-art Crestron Experience Center. More than 700 guests, including Crestron dealers, consultants, architects, lighting designers, media, and government officials took part in the three hour event. A buffet lunch was served, followed by a press conference, ribbon cutting, and group tours of the 8,000 square foot suite’s atrium-style grand salon, multimedia presentation room, digital boardroom, Theo Kalomirakis Home Theater and expansive design studio.
