Chief Helps Make AV the Center of Attention at The Vue

The Vue Game Room Screens

AV helps every space find its place at The Vue

MEMPHIS, TN—If there’s one especially defining aspect of The Vue, a newly-opened student center here on the east side of Tennessee’s celebrated river city, it’s that it refuses to be classified one way or another. It’s a concert venue. Viewed from another perspective, a study lounge, place to see movies…or conference room. Let’s not forget that you can get lost in the extensive game room either, drink your favorite hot beverage in the coffee shop, or simply pull up a big, comfortable upholstered chair and join a real, face-to-face conversation with others.

Yes, for those bent on forcing a single definition on The Vue, perhaps it’s best said that the 10,000 square-foot, multilevel facility takes aim at (more…)

Chief Goes ‘Round The Block With Mankin Media

The Block Control Room

Mankin Media Systems meets upholding AV challenge at Louisville youth center

LOUISVILLE, KY—It may very well be true sometimes that the more things change they stay the same, but don’t count on it at Southeast Christian Church, a house of worship standing here at the gateway to the South that leaves decidedly new footsteps for all others to follow with the opening of its new youth center.

Called The Block, the 75,000 square-foot facility represents a vast departure from neighborhood rec centers and teen hangouts of the past, opting instead to create a positive environment for young people to congregate offering dedicated space for learning, socializing, concerts, gaming, and a lot more. Even outfitted with its own rock wall (more…)

DANLEY STEPS UP TO THE PLATE AT TURNER FIELD

turner_field.JPG

ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Poised for a future playoff berth with a hopeful mixture of youth and experience, the Atlanta Braves finished the 2009 season with a respectable record and much to look forward to. But for Turner Field, built originally for the 1996 Olympics and the club’s home ever since, 2009 marked the transition from possession of a dated sound system to possession of arguably the best system in major league baseball. Assailed by the elements, the old loudspeakers were showing signs of age, replaced by over four-hundred Danley loudspeakers with full weatherproofing, as well as customized rigging and coverage patterns to fit perfectly in the old speakers’ places. Not only did Danley deliver extensive customization, it did so within an extremely short timeframe.

The original equipment had been in place for thirteen years and the loudspeakers were beginning to deteriorate. The Braves (more…)

Ashly Processors and Amps Help Boston Landmark Improve Sound, Save Energy, and Save the Planet

lobby.JPG

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS: Because it has retained the charm and luxury of its Roaring Twenties heritage, The Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Towers was inducted as a member of the prestigious Historic Hotels of America. In addition to its upscale accommodations, the Park Plaza is well-known for its six ballrooms: the very large Imperial and Plaza ballrooms, and the smaller (but still large by other’s standards) Georgian, Arlington, Berkeley, and Clarendon ballrooms. The Park Plaza is thus a prized location for meetings and parties of all kinds.

But behind the scenes, the hotel was growing increasingly frustrated with the audio system that served the ballrooms. A pair of seven-foot racks housed enough power amps to fry a dozen eggs while idling, and their opaque user controls flummoxed even the most audio-savvy hotel staff. At its root, there was no core control and no (more…)

MULTI-TALENTED MUSICIAN AND PRODUCER FRANCIS DUNNERY RELIES ON THE METRIC HALO 2882 FOR ALL THINGS AUDIO

francis_dunnery.JPG

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, NEW YORK: Founder of 1980s English progressive rock sensation, It Bites, Francis Dunnery has maintained a busy schedule of solo work, production, and engineering in the nearly two decades since It Bites dissolved. Regular touring and recording with Robert Plant Lauryn Hill, Ian Brown, Carlos Santana and the creation of his own Aquarian Nation record label to “help support and maintain artistic integrity” have cemented Dunnery’s position as a venerated member of the musical intelligencia, in both the UK and America. His recently released album, “There’s a Whole New World Out There,” is a clever reworking of his favorite material from his early years. Like everything Dunnery has worked on in the past two years, the new album was recorded entirely through a Metric Halo 2882 converter and interface. Metric Halo has a sound that he has never been able to (more…)
