It’s only fitting that Coemar Infinity Wash XL fixtures are playing a key role in “Star Wars: In Concert,” a new touring production based on George Lucas’s infinitely entertaining “Star Wars” franchise. Show Director and designer Steve Cohen is deploying 42 Infinitys as the main wash lights for the show’s 86-piece symphony orchestra, according to Cohen’s associate production designer, Seth Jackson.

A unique multimedia event featuring music from all six of John Williams’s “Star Wars” scores, “Star Wars: In Concert” began its worldwide tour October 1 in Anaheim, California. It features a full symphony orchestra and choir accompanied by a montage of specially-edited footage to fit each theme. The montage is displayed on a three-story tall, HD LED screen and narrated by Anthony Daniels, the actor who portrayed C-3PO in all of the “Star Wars” films. Original movie (more…)

KUDO/KIVA System Makes Sweet Music At New London Church

LONDON — SFL Group has installed an L-ACOUSTICS line source system into Dominion Church, based in a renovated 1930s Art Deco cinema in Wood Green, North London, using large-format KUDO and ultra-compact KIVA cabinets.

L-ACOUSTICS’ UK technical manager Jamie Gosney met Dominion Church’s technical manager, Eben Awuah, on hearing of the renovation project back in January. The church had been meeting in a room under the cinema’s balcony, which was already equipped with an L-ACOUSTICS coaxial system, and it was time to expand into the rest of the building. (more…)

Cobalt Digital Releases Audio Loudness Meter

(Urbana, IL) – With disgruntled viewers at home and in Congress, the pressure is rising for broadcasters to resolve inconsistent audio loudness and meet ATSC A/85 standards. Step one of the solution is clear: stations need accurate, intelligent measurement of loudness levels.

To meet this need, Cobalt Digital Inc. has developed the Audio Loudness Meter (OPT-SW-LM), providing broadcasters with a flexible solution for ingest or on-air loudness metering and assessment.

With true peak level detection, error tracking and logging, and an intuitive interface with touch screen control, the OPT-SW-LM ensures thorough audio level and LKFS assessment information. The software is ATSC A/85 and ITU BS.1770 compliant.
