Valencia, Spain-D.A.S. launches the new Event M210A, a three-way stage monitor in a double 10” “dual-band” configuration. The Event M210A wedge is powered by an advanced, three channel Class D amplifier which provides 360 Wpeak per channel. The amp´s rear panel includes quality Neutrik® XLR and powerCON connectors, status LEDS to facilitate setup. PESA Shows Streaming Solutions at SCBA Winter Conference

Huntsville, Alabama – PESA, a leading designer and manufacturer of streaming solutions as well as professional audio and video distribution products, will exhibit its PESA Xstream C22 compact streaming system and PESA Xstream C58 during the South Carolina Broadcast Association Winter Conference on Jan. 29, 2015, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

“Today’s broadcasters are not limiting themselves to the traditional broadcast model of distributing content. Streaming has become another way to deliver content to viewers who use multiplePESA XSTREAM C22 Front JPEG platforms for access to live and on-demand programming,” said John T. Wright, PESA senior vice president, sales and business development. “Plus, products like our PESA Xstream streaming appliances are PESA XSTREAM C22 Front JPEGhelping stations improve their infrastructures by economically sharing content between facilities.”

The C22 allows broadcasters to compress, stream, and share high-quality content between locations, as well as enable streaming in existing video distribution. As part of a larger hybrid broadcast system or standalone streaming appliance, the C22 can be configured as a two-port video encoder or two-port decoder, or can include one of each. Two units can be paired to allow bi-directional live interaction between sites.

An ideal solution for satellite news studios or remote-based reporters, the C22 has built-in genlock that allows video signals to be locked to an external source for glitch-free video switching. During a live sequence, two external audio sources can be synchronized to either or both video streams. An integrated Web server provides full remote control, so no personnel are required on site for streaming content to another facility. Plus, the C22 offers a variety of video inputs, and its HDMI out allows for local preview.

For applications with larger streaming requirements, the C58 allows up to five video and eight audio input sources to be combined, synchronized, and mixed in real time with any or every video stream, which eliminates timing and latency issues. Video formats including NTSC/PAL, SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI can be combined with decoded IP video sources to create up to five simultaneous full-screen streams and one quad view stream.

About PESA

Zylight Demonstrates LED Lighting Options at CABSAT 2015

LOS ANGELES – Zylight, a leading manufacturer of innovative, premium LED lighting solutions, will showcase its current product line at CABSAT 2015 (Hall 2, Stand 208), which runs March 10-12 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The company will demonstrate its F8 LED Fresnel, which collapses to less than four inches thick for easy transport, and its IS3c LED large panel light, which produces millions of colors or white.

“CABSAT is the largest digital media trade show in the region, and it’s a great opportunity to introduce our product line to video F8 JPEG (4)professionals in North Africa and the Middle East,” said Joe Arnao, president of Zylight. “We look forward to F8 JPEG (4) demonstrating our innovative F8 LED Fresnel, which is an excellent light for studio and location work. We also offer it with a white finish or a black light ‘UV’ package for specialized lighting needs. In fact, our black light is one of the most powerful fixtures of its kind, and it creates quite the impression for entertainment venues where black light is needed.”

The original F8 is available in daylight (5600K) or tungsten (3200K) versions, and features quantum dot technology to provide a more refined and balanced natural light output. It delivers a high CRI (Color Rendering Index) as well as a high TLCI (Television Lighting Consistency Index). It also has an adjustable beam spread (16-70 degrees), patented focusing system for spot and flood operations, and an eight-inch SCHOTT glass lens that maintains single shadow traditional Fresnel beam shaping.

Bright like an HMI, the F8 remains cool to the touch and is a better choice for run-and-gun ENG applications. It delivers close to the light output of a traditional 1000-watt Fresnel, but only draws 90 watts and can be powered by a standard 14.4V camera battery or AC adapter. The F8 is also water resistant (IP54), so it is a dependable lighting option in challenging location conditions.

Zylight will also show its F8-B, a black light version of its LED Fresnel with a proprietary ultraviolet chip for specialized lighting requirements in amusements IS3C Lightpark attractions, nightclubs, or theatrical productions. The F8-B provides four times the fluorescent brightness of a traditional 400-watt Fresnel black light at the same distance, but only draws about one quarter of the electrical power. It is one of the only dedicated LED UV instruments on the market that delivers variable zoom control.

The fully dimmable, full spectrum IS3c can serve as a background color wash light or as a wide soft light. The versatile, high-output light features built-in controls for adjusting color temperature, color correction, and Zylight’s Color Mode, which produces millions of colors without gels or filters. Plus, the light includes a choice of a newly redesigned Chimera soft box or spring loaded pop-up version designed by DoP Choice.

All Zylights are equipped with ZyLink wireless technology, which makes it easy to link multiple instruments for simultaneous remote control, and can be controlled via DMX. The F8 and IS3c are available in traditional black fixtures or white fixtures, which are sometimes required for specific architectural and staging applications.

Founded in 2003, Zylight LLC is the leading manufacturer of intelligent LED lighting instruments for the film and video production industry. Every model in its easy-to-use lighting system produces fully calibrated bright white light, while some also provide a spectrum of adjustable colors without gels. Full wireless control and DMX integration are included, and AC or DC power options are available. The Zylight state-of-the-art LED system is truly the most unique and flexible lighting system on the market today. With more than 50 dealers worldwide, Zylight continues to develop innovative LED lighting solutions to help make your job easier. More Than Bright – Zylight. Find out more at www.zylight.com.

Event Pro, Inc. Ups The Ante With Second Yamaha CL5

Event Pro CL5 Nbr 2

BUENA PARK, Calif.—The response to their first Yamaha CL5 Digital Audio Console has been tremendous, so Event Pro, Inc. (Hastings, MN), recently made the decision to purchase a second through Metro Sound & Lighting (St. Paul, MN). Event Pro company owner, Neal Wallace, sights high demand, sound quality, and great support from Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, as key reasons for the purchase. Event Pro, Inc. is no stranger to Yamaha having an array of the company’s consoles in its stable.

“The ‘two is better than one’ theory holds true when it comes to the CL5, states Wallace. Having the ability to offer this console to our corporate clients, regional festivals and touring acts, and national acts that come through Minnesota is a huge plus. The CL5s have helped take Event Pro, Inc. to another level.” Wallace said his techs love the CL5 consoles so much that they want to take them out on all of their Event Pro gigs. “They LOVE the SOUND and ease of operation.”

After Event Pro’s first CL purchase, the renowned Minneapolis Orchestra Hall immediately requested the CL5. “Joel Money (Technical Director) told me he wanted absolute top-quality audio for clients and technicians to operate on, and the CL provides that platform.” The Hall has, for some time, had a Yamaha PM5D at the FOH location.

The renowned Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis also uses Event Pro CL consoles upon requests from touring artist engineers, such as Paul Booth (engineer for singer Diane Reeves), and others. The club’s tech director, Craig Eichorn is also involved in Twin Cities Jazz Festival so Event Pro has been fortunate to supply the CL. “As we put our second CL console out on as many summer festivals as possible, and with guest engineers experiencing it, they know they can get a CL from us whenever they return to local venues. Many are carrying USB sticks now which makes supplying a CL a natural.”

An event or corporate budget may not support a CL5 but Wallace says if their clients are looking for great sound, they know they will be happy with the console. “100% of the guest engineers, who use it, love it. And for us, personally, it is the best sounding console in its price range.”

Providing their clients with better sound and a better desk is Event Pro’s ultimate goal. “Of course, Wallace notes, the small size, using less space, less road cases, the on-board Premium Effects, and the pre-amps doesn’t hurt either. The Yamaha Rio input/output box, cat5 cabling, networking system, means for us we can leave the three road cases housing our analog 300 ft. splitter snake off the truck (and, that’s a lot of truck space).

Many of the Event Pro rentals include a split mix/two console shows, and setting up dual CL5s with the Rio boxes is easy. “We use a Duracat cat6E cable, and running that co-ax from the CL consoles to the Rio is a breeze. Stagehands love us for this, especially when flying the cat5 instead of a 2-inch snake.”

Event Pro techs are always exploring networking interface possibilities with other gear like Shure wireless microphones, etc, so the Dante/Rio platform is coming in handy. The company currently has two Rio units totaling 48×24 and often split up the units bringing the 16×8 box to front of house in corporate situations that demand more inputs at that position. Eventually, they would like to have two 48-input systems. With the iPad StageMix App for the CL, the company also sends out a top- level Asus router with the console to support the application.

Wallace said he has even established a good networking relationship among Yamaha CL owners in his area so they can quickly supply any artist, venue, or tour with CL consoles anywhere. “Yes, Event Pro wants these desks to always be out, so they are going to work very hard! Sonically, the desk sounds great, and makes the PA sound better. It’s that simple.”

Clay Paky B-EYE K10s Make Their Debut at the Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary’s EPCOR CENTRE

JackSinger_StageCalgary’s EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts has taken delivery of eight Clay Paky A.leda B-EYE K10 Easy fixtures for its Jack Singer Concert Hall, an 1,800-seat venue which is one of the most beautiful and acoustically acclaimed venues in North America. A.C.T Lighting, Inc. is the exclusive distributor of Clay Paky lighting in North America.

Located in the heart of Calgary’s downtown Cultural District, EPCOR CENTRE is a six-level complex occupying a full city block. It is one of the three largest performing arts centers in Canada and the largest in Western Canada.

The Centre’s head electrician, Kris Ladd, discovered the B-EYE K10s in a demo video taped at LDI. Matt La Brie, in the Calgary office of Christie Lites, brought some fixtures to the Centre for Ladd to look at, and he was impressed.

“We try to stick to buying the well-known and well-supported brands,” Ladd explains. “We were looking for LED wash fixtures the size of the K10s: not big 50-pounders and not little tiny ones. We wanted to use them for uplights, where smaller is better, but we also needed them to have the punch to hang overhead and do washes.

“The K10s had good intensity for their size and a very even wash throughout the zoom range,” says Ladd, who “tag teams” shows with his alternate, Matt Gilbutowicz. “They can get really tight – down to a 4º beam – so they’re more than a flooding fresnel. They’re very versatile.”

He also liked “the shape effects attributes, so you can get patterns going on the lens or projected onto people.” Although this particular model of the K10 does not have a rotating head, the shape effects “gave a bit of movement to the light,” Ladd points out.

Since their delivery this summer, the K10s have been used on the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s pop shows, a slate of rock concerts and stand-up comedy shows where they “color wash the stage or uplight the drapes behind the performer,” says Ladd.

The K10s are mounted on truss, placed on the floor behind a drum riser or even positioned on speaker sub woofers as a side front light. “Lighting designers who come here with shows are enjoying them,” he reports. “It’s often the first chance they’ve had to see the K10s, and they tell me how bright and punchy they are.”

The K10s mark EPCOR CENTRE’s first purchase of Clay Paky fixtures. “It was important to me that A.C.T Lighting has a service center in Toronto,” says Ladd. “The fact that A.C.T Lighting Canada can provide full-service support was a factor in choosing the K10s.”

Francesco Romagnoli, Clay Paky Area Manager for North and Latin America, added, “It’s great to be associated with such a high profile center. There have been a lot of great Canadian projects and we thank our partners there for their great work and designs.”
