US Retirement Community Specialist Selects Symetrix Processing Again for New Development

Passavant_5SymNet Radius and Solus open architecture DSPs are integral to the audio configuration at the Passavant Retirement Community Abundant Life Center in Pennsylvania.

SEATTLE, WA —22 JANUARY 2015: Lutheran Senior Life is a leading name in senior living and healthcare, and operates a number of continuing care retirement community (CCRC) properties throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh-based integration firm ASCC’s Pro A/V arm has implemented Symetrix processors to provide suitably flexible audio in a number of Lutheran Senior Life properties, and in its latest project has installed Symetrix SymNet Radius and Solus DSPs at the Passavant Retire Community complex in Zelienople.

In a move designed to better serve its residents, Passavant recently completed work on a new site, the Abundant Life Center. The ambitious facility hosts a chapel, fitness center, restaurant, conference area, retail outlets, independent living and personal care apartments, nursing beds and more.

To deliver anywhere-to-anywhere source routing and intuitive local control at the Abundant Life Center, ASCC made extensive use of Symetrix technology. A SymNet Radius 12×8 DSP resides at the heart of the system, and an xIn 12 and an xOut 12 connect to it via Dante, bringing the main system I/O count to 24×20. One Symetrix SymNet Solus 8 open architecture DSP each resides in the chapel and in the conference complex, and although those systems usually operate autonomously ASCC’s Ken Coey and Ryan Hesske designed the system so that users could still tap or send signals to or from anywhere else in the system via analogue feeds and interactive preset changes.

In addition, seven Symetrix ARC-2e wall mounted remote controls, spread across the zones, permit easy source selection, volume adjustment and preset changes. Paging centres located at the main reception desk, fitness centre reception desk and media area use a Symetrix ARC-SW4e paired with an ARC-EX4e wall panel remote to allow intuitive paging to any zone in the building.

With regard to the five principal areas that comprise the Abundant Life Center, Coey –who is pro A/V design specialist at ASCC –says that “it made sense to tie all the systems together. That way, in addition to being able to page specific areas or across the entire system, they could send programme input sources from anywhere to anywhere else. It’s very flexible, and yet with the ARC controllers still very easy for them to operate.”

A long-time user of Symetrix systems, Coey remarks that he has “always been impressed with the quality, functionality, reliability and ease-of-use of their products. Moreover, they sound great and we’re able to programme the user interfaces so that staff can use them intuitively.”

Inputs to the system include seven Tascam CD-200i CD players with integrated iPod dock, a Tascam TU-690 AM/FM radio, an Antex XM-100 Satellite radio, three Audix ADX-12 gooseneck paging microphones, 15 Sennheiser Evolution Wireless systems, three Sennheiser SKM-Series wireless microphones, four Galaxy Audio HSE-UBG-SENN headworn microphones and a PreSonus StudioLive 16.0.2 digital mixer.

Eleven QSC ISA-, CX- and RMX-Series amplifiers power a large collection of QSC AD-series surface-mounted loudspeakers and Quam System ACT-Series lay-in loudspeakers, as well as a handful of EV ZX1-SUB subwoofers and SoundTube RS400i pendant loudspeakers. Furman sequencers condition the system, while Listen Technologies provides assisted listening.

Audiofile Releases Triumph 2.5

A next-generation tool for audio editing, mastering, sound design, podcasting and post-production

Minneapolis, MN (January 21, 2015) – Audiofile, a leading music technology company, announces the release of Triumph 2.5 on the Mac App Store. Built on the success of the company’s Wave Editor, Triumph 2.5 represents the next generation in audio editing, mastering, sound design, podcasting and post-production with new features, powerful DSP and a refined workflow.

AF_Triumph_2_5

Triumph 2.5 is a significant step forward in Triumph’s evolution. Audiofile has improved workflow efficiency by redesigning the Render Assistant with the ability to render and export multiple formats simultaneously, allowing assets to be auditioned more easily by clicking “play” in an asset’s popover, and by adding video import functionality, which will appeal to sounds designers and those working in post-production.

Triumph 2.5 also represents a significant step forward for sample rate conversion and dither as it now includes algorithms by Goodhertz, creators of Triumph’s digital scrubbing feature and FHX™ headphone listening DSP. Goodhertz’ mastering-grade audio sample rate converter combines incredible sonic performance with unmatched speed and efficiency for a nearly ideal frequency response, preserving high frequency content and eliminating aliasing. Goodhertz dither is a custom-tailored noise shaping algorithm that, rather than relying on noisy peaks or drastic high frequency shaping, always remains smooth and natural sounding while preserving every possible detail of the audio.

“The Triumph workflow is revolutionary,” adds Ricardo Gutierrez, Grammy-winning mastering and mix engineer. “It’s a great Swiss army knife. The fact that it can play back different sample rates in a project is amazing. The shapes used for automation, and the way you can snap to grid the different shapes, is really cool. I’m fully in the box now with mastering and finally have the tools and plug-ins to work in the box. I haven’t touched my analogue gear since the summer. Clients want things so fast and Triumph lets you do that!”

Other additions and enhancements to Triumph include:

• Greatly improved performance and stability
• Optimized for OS X 10.10 Yosemite
• Enhanced editing of individual channels in the Waveform View
• Adds an option to import DDP sets from the File menu
• Improved SoundCloud integration
• Improved multichannel file support
• iZotope MBIT+ Dither™ and 64-bit SRC™ are now available by purchasing an additional license from the Audiofile online store or via in-app purchase in the Mac App Store version
• Various improvements to key commands
• Improved User Guide

“I really like this app a lot,” said Rich Breen, Grammy-winning recording, mix and mastering engineer. “Of course, most important are the sonics, and I’ve found it to be totally solid in this respect. For scripting, I can either duplicate and edit an existing script directly in Triumph, or copy it into AppleScript Editor and edit there for greater flexibility – I don’t know of any other audio apps that offer this kind of feature.”

Pricing and Availability
Triumph 2.5 is now available on the Audiofile website for $79.99. Triumph 2.3.2 is available on the Mac App Store for $79.99 with free update coming soon. For product and ordering information or to download a demo, visit http://www.audiofile-engineering.com/triumph/.

FC Bayern Basketball Relies on Advanced Access Control System from Riedel/DECA and Ticketmaster

WUPPERTAL, Germany — Jan. 20, 2015 — Riedel/DECA Card Engineering has completed the installation of new ticket-scanning electronics at Munich’s Audi Dome, home to current German champion FC Bayern Basketball. Working in partnership with Ticketmaster, Riedel/DECA implemented an access control system that simplifies and speeds guest entry into the arena. The innovative concept offers not only fan security but also efficient visitor management for the club. Within just 90 days, the company integrated Ticketmaster technology into scanning terminals that were delivered and installed in time for the start of the basketball season.

“We have observed the market for a long time and have opted for the well-known quality of Riedel/DECA and Ticketmaster. In a remarkably short time frame, they provided us with a robust, cleverly integrated solution featuring the latest in access control technology,” said Benedikt Peine, head of ticketing and merchandising at FC Bayern München Basketball GmbH. “The terminals themselves have a fresh, modern, and customized design combining new innovations such as mobile ticketing and fast barcode recognition, and the minimal cabling needed to support them made installation both convenient and cost-effective. The speed of the installation and the efficiency of the ticket-scanning systems allowed us to start the new basketball season with a more secure entry system that has eliminated lines and streamlined entry for fans.”

In this joint project with Ticketmaster, Riedel/DECA quickly provided ticket-scanning terminals that ensure optimum security, validating tickets with bright LED indicators that prevent ticket misuse or counterfeiting, and increasing the rate at which guests can enter the arena. The clean cylindrical design of each terminal also affords plenty of space for branding. The installed solution supports guest management for more than 6,000 attendees per event. “It was essential for FC Bayern to get a complete solution”, said Carsten Kerner, COO at Ticketmaster GmbH, who, as general manager of ALBA Berlin for many years, understands the requirements of professional basketball very well. “This is a collaboration of two partners who are leaders in their industries. We’ve already worked successfully with Riedel/DECA at the European Song Contest in Baku and know, that with their know-how and reliability, they are the ideal partner for this challenging project.”

Unlike the former system, which had to be set up manually, the new scan modules automatically recognize the date and event enabling effective and cost-efficient processing. The barcode reader integrated in the terminals can recognize and screen contactless mobile, print@home, and standard tickets as well as season tickets.

“Riedel/DECA has long provided access management systems for premier sports and entertainment facilities, so the company was uniquely prepared to meet the tight delivery timeline for the Audi Dome installation,” said Rainer Kluth, managing director at DECA Card Engineering GmbH. “Going forward, FC Bayern Basketball and its fans will benefit from the most modern access control system available today.”

Information about DECA Card Engineering is available at www.deca.de. Information about Ticketmaster is available at www.ticketmaster.de. Further information about Riedel and the company’s products is available at www.riedel.net.

Calibre releases NEW LEDView325DS Digital Signage LED Videowall Scaler

LEDView325DS Angled

Calibre announces the release of its latest model in the highly successful LEDView range of LED videowall optimised image scalers.

LEDView325DS is designed specifically for cost conscious digital signage projects where quality is required but without breaking the bank.

Digital signage is a market often ignored when it comes to high quality scaling with many clients relying on software based solutions from a PC. This unfortunately causes difficulty creating and showing client content together with severe image quality issues, both of which lead to unhappy clients.

LEDView325DS is a cost effective yet high quality image scaler which provides Calibre’s market-leading pixel-accurate per-edge image re-sizing algorithm which allows each edge of the picture content to be independently dragged to the correct position on the LED videowall.

There is also per input colour calibration capability to ensure client content looks how the client wants with control of RGB gains and blacks as well as saturation and hue even on digital computer-originated content. These are the kinds of functions typically found on premium live events models, which are now available without the cost associated with a live events scaler.

LEDView325DS gives outstanding image quality with fast simple set-up of picture size, colour calibration and network-based back-up and restore of settings for fast disaster recovery. Control and configuration is by internet browser, using the inbuilt webserver so when connected to a suitable network remote control and status monitoring is also possible.

Calibre UK will exhibit on stand 4U64 at ISE 2015 taking place from 10-12 February 2015 at the Amsterdam RAI.

About Calibre
Multi-award winning British company, Calibre has over the past 27 years achieved world recognition providing image scaling and processing technologies for use in broadcast/television, digital cinema, large venue projection, LED videowalls and surgical medical applications. The DIGI Awards recognises the service providers who have gone the extra mile to ensure success for their clients, thereby furthering the digital signage industry as a whole. Play Me! at Vivid Sydney 2014

Vivid Sydney is an 18-day festival of light, music and ideas – the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, attracting a record 1.43 million attendees in 2014.

Now in its seventh year, Vivid Sydney is and owned and managed by Destination New South Wales (NSW), the State Government’s tourism and major events agency.

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said: “Congratulations to the creative team at Danny Rose on winning this distinguished international award for their compelling Play Me! experience.

“Each year the world’s finest artists are invited to showcase their talents, ideas and creativity at Vivid Sydney. Play Me! delighted many of the record 1.43 million visitors to Vivid Sydney last year and it was one of the most popular exhibits of the festival. We look forward to working with Danny Rose again on future projects,” Ms Chipchase said.

Play Me! from Danny Rose incorporated visual and interactive elements through a series of massive ‘musical sculptures. Each ‘sculpture’ represents a family of musical instruments, which the audience ‘played’ in real-time just using hands and body. The audience member is able to change colour, light shape and sound in front of festival-goers.

High definition projectors provided by video experts, TDC – Technical Direction Company were used to project content onto the façade of Customs House, Sydney.

Play Me! is made possible using powerful 3D real-time software and rendering engine that manages interactivity and high-quality interactive graphics.

A Microsoft® Kinect motion capture system intercepts the body’s movements. Danny Rose has custom created special software that allows for the audience to interact with Play Me! just using a combination of hand and body movements.

“We’re delighted to receive this recognition for our work in creating Play Me! at Vivid Sydney 2014” said Sergio Carrubba, director and designer of Danny Rose, the design team for this project.

UnknownUnknown-1

Sarah Joyce, Vice President, EMEA, of Electrosonic Ltd & Diana Danziger, an international organisational development and leadership consultant at Inez Consulting Ltd.

There is no shortage of research and experience to confirm that there is a significant gender imbalance in the technology industry. Many words have been written and spoken about why this is and what the industry needs to do to put it right. This session will explore what women — and men — in the industry can do to encourage women into successful and long-term careers in technology rather than waiting for the industry as a whole to catch up.

Sarah Joyce, Vice President, EMEA, of Electrosonic Ltd, and a member of the InfoComm International® Board of Directors, will share her leadership journey in technology, which spans almost 20 years. She will reflect on what her experience has taught her about how women can make better use of a variety of sources of support that can help them unleash their talent and progress in this highly male-dominated industry.

Following Joyce’s presentation, Diana Danziger, an international organisational development and leadership consultant at Inez Consulting Ltd, will discuss some of the ways in which individuals, especially women, diminish their own skills and potential, and keep their careers from moving forward: self-limiting beliefs, unconscious bias and expectations that serve to block rather than unlock capability. This will be an interactive session, with practical activity to personalise the experience and raise awareness of what can be done, on an individual basis, to promote — in every sense of the word — women in technology.

The session will conclude with a roundtable discussion to solicit input from participants regarding activities the Women of InfoComm Network Council should perform in Europe. There will be ample time to network and get to know others. Attendees can sign up for the breakfast during registration at a cost of €40.

Don’t miss out. View the speaker line up and sign up now at www.iseurope.org. ISE 2015 takes place from 10-12 Feb. 2015, at the Amsterdam RAI.

Visitors to the Kramer stand will be able to see the products in action, test them out, ask questions and plan for future project investments.
