Three Things at Broadcast Pix
At NAB, Broadcast Pix introduced three key upgrades to their line—in some ways these upgrades are even more pertinent to the InfoComm market, which sees them for the first time this week.
First: The introduction of an intermediate 2ME control surface. So now you can configure the system with either a soft touch screen, a compact 1ME, or the more expansive 2ME. Russell Whittaker, VP of Sales says the key difference between the 1ME and 2ME is not so much processing features and ease of use. There is more room to spread out the channels and subroutines. Also of course the 2ME config allows presentation users to dedicate 1ME to projectors and the other to broadcast (whether satellite or web).
Second: On the processing side analog and SDI processing is joined by HDSDI processing…plus the addition of a DVI/DGA in and out—again a feature that is even more compelling here than it was at NAB.
Third: The most significant enhancement on the back end brings larger IO matrices—16 and 32 squared. In addition to more IO, this brings 8 tie lines that connect the outputs of the router to the processing engine. You can configure three types of backend now—a hybrid analog/SDI; SDI only, and HDSDI.
