Walking along the red carpet of InfoComm’s Audio Pavilion, the endless parade of loudspeaker systems may seem a little repetitive. While reputation for many of these high end speaker companies attract installers to their booths to view the latest products, for those smaller companies, you need a certain form of creativity in your design to really stick in someone’s mind.
Such is the case with Dawn Pro Audio (Booth #C10746), a company that fell off the map for 15 years before it was scooped up by Hanser Music Group and is now releasing new loudspeaker systems for the rental and installation markets.
New to InfoComm14 is Dawn’s AW series acoustic waveguide loudspeaker, which includes a specially designed horn that directs the sound into a 210 degree radius.
Bob Imhoff, director of engineering at Dawn Pro Audio, explained the waveguide funnels the high-end sound and disperses beyond a 180 degree radius, eliminating the need for second loudspeaker. He invited guests at the booth to walk around the speaker during a demo, pointing out the clarity of the sound when you stand behind it. The loudspeaker system comes with a 3-channel speaker and subwoofer, with pole attachment. The speaker also has anchor points to fly the speakers for a permanent installation scenario.
Imhoff also said the company used 3D printing technology to design the top waveguide, testing the design over and over before launching the final design.
