Crest Audio partners with Waves for Tactus

Crest Audio® (Booth 10129) has partnered with Waves® to create the Tactus™ Digital Mixing System. With a simple, customizable touch-screen operating interface that puts all of the audio routing, processing and mixing tools, the Tactus Digital Mixing System is one of the most innovative and audio mixing platforms yet. In addition to providing a full complement of professional features, the Tactus system allows the use of Waves audio processing plug-ins for live events.

The system includes Tactus.FOH™, the audio processing core for the system, the Tactus.Stage™, a 32-in/16-out remote stage box, and the Tactus.Control, a dedicated hardware control surface. With its modular  design which interconnects via standard Gigabit Ethernet cabling and an internal Gigabit switch, the system can be scaled to suit the installation or application.

 

The Tactus.FOH is powered by the Waves SoundGrid audio processing/networking platform, combining extremely low latency with precision audio processing. When matched with the new Waves eMotion Mixer for SoundGrid, the products result in a mixing platform that is unsurpassed in the industry with regard to features, audio quality, and flexibility. The Tactus.FOH frame provides 8 local microphone/line inputs and 8 line outputs, and serves as the audio signal processing engine.

 

Audio inputs are handled by the Tactus.Stage unit, which contains 32 microphone/line inputs and 16 line outputs. The digitally controlled high-quality mic preamps feature ultra-low input noise, high slew rate, very low THD, and 66dB adjustment range in 1dB steps to maximize dynamic range. An integrated gigabit Ethernet switch allows for easy networking. Two interfaces can be combined for a total of 64 stereo inputs by 32 stereo outputs.

QSC Launches New Q-Sys Network Audio Products

QSC Audio Products (Booth C9917) showed two new Enterprise Cores at InfoComm 2014.  The new Core 1100 provides 256 x 256 network audio channels and 96 AEC channels, while the new Core 3100 is capable of a robust 512 x 512 channels and 192 AEC channels. Additionally, the already familiar QSC CXD-series amplifiers got a boost with the launch of CXD-Q designed specifically for use with the respected Q-Sys platform.  Combined together, the amplifiers benefit from Q-Sys extensive DSP processing for a well-integrated solution to large installed applications, including convention centers, public transportation terminals, hotels, stadiums, and other venues with complex zone and routing requirements.

 

On the speaker side, three new speaker models have been added.  Two surface-mount loudspeakers in the Acoustic Design Series bookend an already diverse line of product.  The AD-S112sw is a compact single 12″ subwoofer with weather treated driver capable of 121db peak SPL, and includes mounting yoke.  Advanced voicing filter sets using QSC Intrinsic Correction™, available through either Q-Sys processing or CXD amplifier platforms.  The AD-S6T uses a 6” weather treated woofer; 1” silk dome tweeter to achieve 105° Axisymmetric (conical) coverage.  Maximum peak SPL 116 db, and also utilizes advanced voicing filter sets using QSC Intrinsic Correction™, available through either Q-Sys processing or CXD amplifier platforms. 60 watt low-saturation and low-loss 70/100V transformers with 8? bypass are built in.  The entire line is designed for indoor and outdoor use, and meets IEC60529 IP-54 for dust and splash resistance.

All-Star Rockers Assembled for Free Bose Concert

Bose Professional Systems (Booth C11122) hosted a free concert Thursday at 5:30 pm in the LVH Theater, directly adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center.  The assembled “supergroup” includes Howard Leese (Guitar- Heart, Bad Company), Doug Aldrich (Guitar- Whitesnake), Robin McAuley (Vocals- MSG, Survivor), Paul Shortino (Vocals- Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot), Andrew Freeman (Vocals/Guitars- Lynch Mob, The Offspring), Jay Schellen (Drums- Badfinger, Asia), Michael T. Ross (Keys- Lita Ford Band), and Mark Boals (Vocals- Yngwie Malmsteen).  The setlist included classic tunes from legendary rock groups like the Rolling Stones, The Who, The Doors, Led Zeplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Eagles, Queen, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Van Halen, Journey, Aerosmith, and more.  The nearly standing-room-only crowd was treated to over 90 minutes of classic rock anthems.

 

This extraordinary musicianship was enhanced by the acclaimed Bose RoomMatch™ audio system, with unparalleled coherence through a manifold waveguide, allowing a much lower crossover point than most other compression arrays.  Bose’s unique construction is modular, allowing different midrange/high-frequency units (even with asymmetrical dispersion patterns) to be combined with low-frequency units into one line array unit.  This unusually diverse pallet allows designers to customize the coverage more ideally to the room and seating, keeping energy off the walls and other surfaces and cutting down destructive interference.  The system was powered by Bose PowerMatch(tm) 4- and 8-channel amplifiers delivering up to 4000 watts per amplifier with less than 20-amp current draw per unit.

 

L-Acoustic Shows Constant-Curvature Line Source “WST”

L-Acoustic (Booth C11908) has introduced two models of Constant-Curvature line source speakers. ”WST” stands for Wavefront Sculpture Technology, where boxes can be used individually or in small arrays as a point-source solution, or arrayed with multiple units as a line source, without destructive interference effects.

 

 The line source can be deployed either horizontally or vertically, with a coverage angle proportional to the number of enclosures in the array (N x 22.5 degrees). On the other plane—vertical or horizontal, respectively—the ARCS II line source provides an asymmetrical coverage angle of 60 degrees (20/40). The orientation of the ARCS II enclosures within the array determines asymmetric distribution, allowing the use of a horizontal ARCS II line source either for upward or downward coverage.

 

ARCS II can be quickly deployed as a tightly packed front of house system for medium throw applications with high-SPL LF impact and excellent stereo imaging. With precise and flexible coverage capability, the ARCS II is also well-suited for use as a distributed system, center cluster for theatrical work, sidefill monitoring, flown or stacked center fill, stereo front fill, offstage fill or delay system for concert audiences in stadiums and arenas.

 

The LA-RAK touring rack and LA8 amplified controller preset library deliver an extremely advanced and precise drive system for ARCS II. Additional features include the L-DRIVE intelligent two-way transducer protection circuit (Peak and RMS limiting) and unique Array Morphing EQ interface allowing the engineer to quickly adjust the tonal balance of the system to produce a reference curve or ensure consistency of the system’s sonic signature with multiple arrays of different types and sizes.

DriveCore Install from Crown Expands with New Networked Amps

As the HARMAN family continues to develop an integrated approach to its product line with the HiQnet Audio Architect system for control and monitoring based on TCP/IP protocols, Crown (Booth C10122) is expanding with a powerful pair of amplifiers well-suited to high-power/high-quality installations.  The DCi Network Display 8|600 and 4|1250 amplifiers feature front-panel status display and AVB (Audio Video Bridging) connectivity.  The eight- and four-channel amps will be the first amplifiers to be certified by the AVnu Alliance, and are designed for reliable networked operation utilizing AVB network protocols.

 

The eight-channel DCi 8|600 delivers 600W into 8 ohms, (300, 600 and 300W into 16, 4, and 2 ohms), and the four-channel DCi 4|1250 provides 1250W per channel into 8, 4, or 2 ohms (625/ch. Into 16 ohms), with direct drive “constant voltage capabilities, eliminating the need for step up transformers in 70Vrms and 100Vrms applications.  A front-panel display and LED indicators provide at-a-glance indication of key parameters, and a large multifunction knob and push buttons access control functions.

PreSonus has Speakers in “the Worx”

PreSonus (Booth C11341) has announced acquisition of loudspeaker manufacturer WorxAudio Technologies, Inc., of Greensboro, North Carolina.  WorxAudio has been a leader in the mid- and large-scale church market, professional touring market, and corporate installations since it’s founding in 1979.  PreSonus intends to leverage the knowledge of these markets, and will take advantage of driver, systems, and mechanical design into future PreSonus offerings for the portable and touring markets, and the needed support of those customers.

 

WorxAudio will be demonstrating their TrueLIne™ X2 and V5 compact line arrays in Demo Room N104 (North Hall) at 10:30 am, 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm, and 4:30pm Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  Other WorxAudio products can be found at Booth C11746.

New Commercial Installation Solutions from Yamaha

Yamaha Commercial Audio System, Inc. (Booth C10716) has debuted two new amplifiers in their growing Commercial Installations Solutions (CIS) product line.  The MA2030 Mixer Amplifier combines a powerful combination of functionality for small installed sound applications like conference rooms, restaurants, and other mixed use applications.  The internal DSP allows ducking, feedback reduction, auto leveling, speaker processing, 2 x 30 amplifier at a price point not seen before in the market.

 

Adding more power to an installation can be easily accomplished by adding the PA2030 amplifier for an additional 2 x 30 watt amplifier.  It also works as a stand-alone unit, driving high- or low-impedance loads.  The highly efficient Class-D amp design requires no fans for cooling, and requires extremely low-current draw minimizing electricity consumption, and famous Yamaha reliability.

RSG adds Multi-format Switchers

Roland Systems Group (Booth C10536) launches the new XS Series- a new line of Muliti-Format Matrix Switchers with high-quality integrated video and audio conversion and switching.  Intended for fixed installations, three models support eight HDMI, RGB/Component/S-video/Composite inputs.  The XS-84H, XS-83H, and XS-82H all have 8 inputs, with four, three, and two HDMI or HDBaseT outputs respectively.

 

Ideal applications include conference rooms, educational auditoriums and media presentation rooms, performing arts centers, churches, convention centers, and teleconferencing, and 4k to 1080p.  Audio can be embedded into outputs, via the eight onboard stereo inputs (two also support microphones) and/or HDMI audio, as well as de-embedded on output.  The XS Series can be remotely controlled by the XS Remote, LAN connection, RS-232C, or the native iPad app.
