Dawn Pro Audio Announces AW Series

Matt Thornton, director of sales at Dawn Pro Audio, poses with the AW series loudspeaker system.

Walking along the red carpet of InfoComm’s Audio Pavilion, the endless parade of loudspeaker systems may seem a little repetitive. While reputation for many of these high end speaker companies attract installers to their booths to view the latest products, for those smaller companies, you need a certain form of creativity in your design to really stick in someone’s mind.

Such is the case with Dawn Pro Audio (Booth #C10746), a company that fell off the map for 15 years before it was scooped up by Hanser Music Group and is now releasing new loudspeaker systems for the rental and installation markets.

The Future of AV at InfoComm

As part of my pre-show schedule for InfoComm14, I spoke with David Labuskes, executive director and CEO of InfoComm International, about the organization’s celebration of its 75th anniversary and how it has grown since then. During this discussion, where Labuskes highlighted all aspects of the convention from digital signage, to professional audio, to security systems, he kept the theme of this year’s InfoComm, “AV Moving Forward,” relevant.

One point Labuskes mentioned a few times was the rapid increase in technology, and the importance of keeping the organization up to date with these latest advances, a point that seems to be trend throughout the events this week.

Audio Blasts In A Day Early With Demo Rooms

Renkus-Heinz demos the Varia loudspeaker system in Audio Demo Room N113.

While the show floor for InfoComm14 doesn’t open until Wednesday, the audio department’s demo rooms are already in full blast—literally. Open a day early, 16 audio manufacturers open the doors to their customized demo rooms, where they give detailed presentations of their latest products, along with a demonstration of the sound these products produce.

Each company gives a demo every other hour (most likely to avoid bleed between the rooms), and walking down the hallway you can surely hear (and feel) the power of these sound systems.

InfoComm Show Floor Livens Up Before Day 1

InfoComm’s series of educational and training programs are already underway, but for the thousands of attendees registered for this year’s InfoComm, the excitement is just starting. On Monday afternoon, the show floor was still under construction, but it was beginning to show the early signs of another successful year, with the industry’s audio manufacturer’s lining their booths with their latest products.

A must-see on this year’s floor is Peavey’s Professor Peavey’s Amazing Audio Torture Tests, which invites audience members to sabotage Peavey products to see how well the systems can work in worst-case scenarios, including fires, smoke, cut cables, and compromised equipment. Thirty-minute sessions will be held throughout the convention at the Peavey booth #C10129. more…
