All the cool stuff at InfoComm

qsys_system_diagram.jpgCool stuff, there was lots of it to be had at InfoComm 2010. For anyone technically inclined (that would be the majority of folks attending InfoComm), getting the scoop on the latest and the greatest new gear is generally pretty high on the list of things to do at InfoComm. Unfortunately with the show covering a fair amount of real estate and the time the expo floor is open being finite, sometimes you just don’t have the opportunity to see everything. I highlighted a few things yesterday. Here’s a brief review of some of the other offerings seen at the show:
QSC Audio introduced paging station hardware and software for its Q Sys digital signal processing platform. QSC designed this for transportation hubs as well as other facilities needing a sophisticated paging capabilities. more…

Day 2 InfoComm, My first day

med_nt10022201_05_dwrr01d-_tl.jpgDay 2 at InfoComm. I arrived shortly before the exhibit halls opened and waited outside. At 9:00 AM sharp, the crowd pushed in and we were off! Back to my old stomping grounds (the world of professional audio): Sony showed a digital wireless microphone system, the DWR-R01D receiver and the DWM-01 microphone. The systems were designed to transmit 24-bit/48kHz digital audio and take advantage of the gains in audio quality over analog transmission. And given the recent FCC legislation, another handy byproduct is the ability to run more frequencies in the same spectrum as opposed to analog. Another cool aspect is the ability to remotely and wirelessly adjust the mic gain and even change the frequency. Very handy and less disruptive if you need to change the frequency mid event. more…
