RSG adds Multi-format Switchers

Roland Systems Group (Booth C10536) launches the new XS Series- a new line of Muliti-Format Matrix Switchers with high-quality integrated video and audio conversion and switching.  Intended for fixed installations, three models support eight HDMI, RGB/Component/S-video/Composite inputs.  The XS-84H, XS-83H, and XS-82H all have 8 inputs, with four, three, and two HDMI or HDBaseT outputs respectively.

Ideal applications include conference rooms, educational auditoriums and media presentation rooms, performing arts centers, churches, convention centers, and teleconferencing, and 4k to 1080p.  Audio can be embedded into outputs, via the eight onboard stereo inputs (two also support microphones) and/or HDMI audio, as well as de-embedded on output.  The XS Series can be remotely controlled by the XS Remote, LAN connection, RS-232C, or the native iPad app.

GREAT SHOW!

infocomm-14-new.jpgWHAT A GREAT WEEK, but it’s finally over and the numbers are in, making this year’s show the second largest InfoComm event ever held, with 32,002 AV professionals attending from more than 90 countries. With 925 exhibitors filling the halls of the Las Vegas convention center, we were nearly overwhelmed by the sheer number of cool products and technologies—way more than we can cover in the space of this blog, so check back to the SVC website and in the new products, news, and technology showcase sections of our print editions for more InfoComm coverage in upcoming issues.

Meanwhile, InfoComm 2011 returns to sunny Orlando, Florida, next year from June 11 to 17, 2011. Mark your calendars now!

Day One: Have We Got New Stuff

On the flight from BNA to DFW on Tuesday my seatmate asked if I was going to InfoComm. I was and assumed he was too since he knew of the show. Actually, no, the fellow, who specializes in HOW AV installs told me, he wasn’t going this year because for the last two shows he said that the number and nature of new products was pretty slim. He wished me a good show. After day one, I wish he would have gone to the show. more…

Vaddio Introduces Reveal In-wall Architectural Cameras

in-wall_clear-sr-hd-18.jpgVaddio, the leading manufacturer and OEM distributor of specialty pan/tilt/zoom cameras and high-end camera control systems, will launch the Reveal In-wall PTZ Camera at InfoComm 2010, June 9 – 11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“As a manufacturer of PTZ cameras we have seen a growing concern from architects and consultants over the aesthetics of electronics placed in conference rooms and meeting places, explained President and CEO of Vaddio, Rob Sheeley. “As flat screen technologies have made displays easier to install and blend into a wall, PTZ cameras are still being surface-mounted and as a result protrude out into the room. The Vaddio Reveal In-wall camera systems are designed to install the camera into the wall and have the same aesthetics as a flatscreen display. Read on at The Briefing Room

Extron’s Retractor Eases the Load on Cables

Extron RetractorExtron‘s people have been out in the real world and one of the things they’ve come up with is a handy widget that installs out of sight to automatically take up cable once it has been disconnected and safely stores it on a hidden reel. On a university campus with 90 classrooms, I replace at least a half-dozen VGA cables every week because of people disconnecting and then dropping them on hard floors, bending the flanges. The new Extron Retractor that Lee Dodson showed me solves that problem. It’s a unique, patent-pending retraction and management system that works with Extron’s Cable Cubby access enclosures. Clearly, Extron’s people aren’t just a bunch of guys in white coats wandering around in windowless labs.
